More than likely, these were part of a previously announced slate of lay offs that are just now “processing through”. Just because a company announces layoffs, doesn’t necessarily mean the entire amount is immediately done.

That's probably it. Hasbro said upfront that said those previous layoffs were going to be staggered.

The tariff question got to the Supreme Court today, who generally sounded as skeptical as all the lower courts who ruled against them, but who knows? We will see what happens. What I wonder is if they are struck down, will companies drop their prices back to normal (HAH!) or just leave them high as they got the excuse they wanted?

It's close enough to the price increase that the goodwill boost from dropping prices back down and getting people buying again might outweigh the additional revenue brought in from the higher prices.

Someone at Hasbro would have to make that case though.

Not going to matter. The administration has already indicated they have several other laws lined up they believe allow Trump to install tariffs.

Yeah, I want to believe, but history hasn't exactly shown that trend.

Charitable benefit of the doubt, I guess: if I were Hasbro, I'd keep things where they are for a while too, if only because who knows what fresh hell will come after this question is supposedly settled (and it might not even be, or not in my favor).

I just had my first instance of having to directly pay a tariff fee, rather than having it baked into the purchase price. My World Dragnus just arrived today. Had to pay $30 to DHL the other day to get them to finish delivering it. There's knowing Trump's tariffs are hurting you, and then there's getting slapped in the face with them.

That was actually the point of the argument today, a lot of people still seem to be thinking that foreign governments pay them. They don't. Americans do, and so they're just another tax.

Yup, I think Exatron's just sharing what it's like to get explicitly hit with one rather than in a less-direct "factored into the cost in a less visible but no less real painful" way.

I feel that must be a pretty sobering moment.

I know, I was agreeing with him. It's part of what's turned my want list into a wish list. I don't have the means to compensate with everything else that HAS to be done, so a lot of optionals got optioned out.
