As much as I like Keanu Reeves, it just felt wrong having a Shadow figure all this time without a Sonic. So I broke down today and got this one.

And here's one of the buddies together.

I do feel honor-bound to mention that even though this officially means I have more Sonic toys than Mario, I still have more Nintendo toys than Sega. So don't go getting any ideas.

I mean you could get someone else like Knuckles so they have yet another buddy. And with these various buddies, you could get Dr. Robotnik so they have someone to fight against. These are movie toys and you could branch out to toys based on the games. And then...

I want to argue, but it's a bad way to play a bad port. It is kinda worthless.

Not for me.

I had the Dreamcast original, and played as much of it as I could. By which I mean, I could not finish Big the Cat's campaign.

I don't know what it was, but at a certain point late in, getting Froggy was just not possible. He would not take the bait.

Some time later, I did play a friend's copy of the GameCube version, and was finally able to play the battle against Perfect Chaos. They later gave me that copy, when they abandoned their GameCube, I think.

I did manage to clear Big and do the ending in the 360 version, which is based on the GameCube version, at least.

Big's campaign was easier in the DX port? I PLAYED THE EASIER ONE???

I have to play the Dreamcast version someday. I need to experience this.

I would not say it was easier, per se. I think mine was bugged or something.

I spent so long and hoped that emptying out the pond of all the other fish would lead somewhere, but nope. More fish just kept appearing, and Froggy wasn't having none of his "friend".

They seem to be. I didn't notice any glitches with my copy. Others seem to have a copy that's bugged to hell and back. The one thing that unites them all is that damned frog won't bite the hugging lure.

For me, it wasn't the frog, but every other fish that wouldn't bite the lure, even after I got all of the lure upgrades, so I never completed the other emblems of Big's campaign after the basic "catch Froggy" emblems.

And mine's the GameCube version.

The trick is to concentrate only on catching Froggy. Then all the fish will eagerly swarm all over the lure.

To my understanding, fishing was slightly bugged on the Dreamcast version, thus the port is slightly easier. Of all the things to fix...

So with all the Sonic talk on here, I thought: "Hey, why not show off what Sonic things I have?"

More an excuse to just gather everything up and take a pic as I've never done that with Sonic before.

I hate how long it took me to get this pic. Like six tries. I'd lay everything out, then start to put stuff away and go: "Oh! I forgot about THIS game!" Then lay it out and take another pic, only to realize I didn't grab the games I put back away, so had to take ANOTHER pic. Then keep realizing I forgot stuff as I was putting the games away and do this all over again. (I was distracted with other things) FINALLY I did a through scan of like every game shelf and found like three or four more I forgot about.

HOWEVER, I think this should be it. I'm missing a lot. Some I've heard are NOT the best copy to have. Like Unleashed for the PS3. I haven't played all of these either.

Technically I am missing one other game. I have a Sonic the Hedgehog for PC. I think it's the first game ported, but try as I might, I can't find it.

This is my Sonic other media/merch. I don't really have a lot of it. This pic only took two attempts. First time I forgot to include those four Sonic Boom figures I got by buying the two Sonic Boom DVDs you see there.

I aim to add Sonic X to the collection, just need to buy the blu ray. I know there is more Sonic Boom I can get, and I think Prime is out on DVD now.

Just in case, that Shadow case by the movies is the Amazon Exclusive steelbook of Sonic 3.

It's crazy how that Sonic & Knuckles cartridge didn't start a trend. It was such a cool concept and seemed to work perfectly, and the whole industry just shrugged.

It was probably a lot of extra effort that for 90% of the devs and companies at the time simply was not worth the return.

But yeah: awesome jive, shame it didn't catch on.

People will compare it to DLC, but it's not the same. I'm not aware of a DLC expansion that's so seamlessly plug-and-play ready, and also unplug-and-play ready. It's two games that just do their thing. Attach them and they just do a different thing. Separate them again and they just do their thing again. There's no configuration involved. They just work.

Ah dang it, I do have some Sonic VHS upstairs of the SATAM variety. I suppose I could have also included the MegaMan Sonic Crossover comic stuff I have. I sadly don't have any of the comics.

I should also get a copy of the anime movie sometime.

Wouldn't be much point in taking a pic of all my stuff. My physical collection is pretty small if only because a bunch of the games I used to own, I no longer own. I used to have Sonic Adventures (Gamecube), Sonic 2006 (PS3), Sonic Unleashed (Whatever Nintendo console was current at the time, I don't remember).

What I own now: The two toys pictured above, the Smash Bros Amiibo, Genesis 6-Pak cartridge that includes Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic.

I also have the Genesis mini as well as several Genesis collections on various consoles and every game digitally available on Switch 2 and PS5...but I don't really count digital.
