I loved that film. It was pretty good isolated story ad I loved how they brought back an original character.
Here's my thing with it. I see the Alien franchise as having two distinct distinct life cycles. One is the one James Cameron solidified with the queen in Aliens. The franchise stuck with this life cycle for decades. Any fan of the franchise knew this life cycle. It was how the franchise was set in stone.
But then Ridley Scott threw a hissy fit because that wasn't
his original vision and, like a pouting child, forced this mutating virus into the franchise where it no longer fit.He retconned decades worth of lore because he had to have it his way or no way at all.
When it comes to Romulas, I was actually really enjoying it. It felt like the franchise was finally getting back on track and I was watching the first good Alien movie in a
long time...until the latter half of the film where they placed in squarely in the mutating virus continuity.
