Thread of Thoughts, Questions (and Maybe Even Answers) That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread

Another thing I kinda miss is the alternate color figures. Red Bumblebee and Yellow Cliffjumper never got separate characters, but they were intentionally released to pad out the line. It would be cool if we could get those in the Retro carded series as a nod to the original releases.

Like 99% of G1 Cliffjumper toys since G1 have just been red Bumblebee.

You're not wrong. I do think it was a missed opportunity for them to not use the name "Stinger" for a female red Decepticon Bumblebee, but I'm still glad she exists.

I'm sure the idea came up, but I would understand if they wanted to make it an original character instead.

Yellow Cliffjumper needs an identity, too. I'm thinking maybe "Yellowbelly" and he's the Autobot's resident coward, but in a humorous way. Think Wade the Duck from U.S. Acres (if you're familiar with it)

I'm not sure Yellow Cliffjumper has as much of a chance to become his own character due to Hubcap already existing and being so close in design to the yellow Cliffjumper toy, just with a new head and the spoiler resculpted out.

Bumper's existence likewise adds another redundancy in being yet another yellow Minibot of the same engineering as Bee, Cliff, and Hub.

Oh, definitely not as a retroactive "wish he had been in the Sunbow Cartoon" way. For the G1 cartoon, I totally understand why they didn't want a bunch of similar looking yellow minibots running around. I was thinking more for the Discerning Adult Collector (of children's toys) and/or as a easter-eggy sort of reference in the comics or something.

At the very least, Pretender Bumblebee's toy has a yellow Cliffjumper head.

Permit me to introduce y'all to Ladybug.

I was aware of the Yolopark figure, but wasn't sure how official it was since it was exclusive to Botcon. Cool the character exists, she should hang out with a Decepeticon version of Beet Papil!
I still think red Bumblebee should be G1 Stinger. Not even opposed to keeping the origin of Stinger as a human-built "knockoff" Bumblebee somehow turned to evil.
The logic here is sound, but I can never hear the name "Stinger" without thinking of the gold Corvette Gobot. Gold with silver bot parts and black detailing would make a decent Bee deco, too! (Though very similar to Goldbug...)

Yolopark is an official licensee, so it's through them that the figure is officially-licensed.

As of last year, BotCon has basically become like how it was back in the years 1994-2001, where it released figures officially licensed by Hasbro, but the event itself was not actually officially licensed until 2002. But seeing as how BotCon cannot get officially licensed figures from Hasbro directly anymore (since Hasbro has largely bowed out of the convention licensing scene), it is through Yolopark that BotCon can release official figures again.

In other words, Hasbro is okay with Yolopark, and Yolopark is okay with BotCon, so Hasbro is okay with Yolopark BotCon exclusives. It also helps that Agabyss, the current organizers now in charge of BotCon, are a different group of people from those who were members of Fun Pub.
