You may test that assumption at your convinience.

He's right for the moment though: democrats shouldn't waste their time bringing up articles of impeachment that will never pass. Wait till it will actually work before you do it, or you're just a democratic MTG.

Yeah. I get the idea behind it, but this is MTG level jive. It won't pass, it won't do anything except feed the persecution complex. Wait till you have the votes, then do it.

At the same time, they want to be seen at least trying to do something, because the biggest problem a lot of Dems get accused of is that they never seem to do anything. So we get performative time wasting, because they don't have the numbers to do anything useful. There's really no winning here.

If the Dems want *anything* passed beyond the threadbare functioning of government; they need to run on abolishing the filibuster and expanding the Supreme Court.

Otherwise those two things will block and/or outlaw anything they try to do.

The only thing lower than Trump's numbers are the democrats. It is very apparent that the entrenched leadership has not met the hour or the moment and has no idea what to do next.

It is well past time to send the elderly to pasture. They don't have to live in the world they're leaving us, we do. And it is high ******* time we had a voice that matched the amount of skin we have in the game. Well past time.

The awful thing is that the US electoral system just keeps it a permanent duopoly with the entrenched two parties. I mean, the similarish system we have here in the UK sort of does the same with the Big Two, but at least we have elements of a multi-party democracy, and outside England the main party setup is different. In any other country in the world, the GOP would’ve collapsed and been replaced by a Trump Party, and the hapless Democrats, well, they would’ve sunk to oblivion likely sooner than the Republicans.

I honestly don't know what most countries do differently from us that makes third parties viable. Only a handful—none of them significant on the world stage—use a ranked ballot system nationwide, and that's the only thing I've ever seen proposed as a solution to the two party hegemony.

remember when we treated this guy like the darling future of the Democrat Party for a couple weeks just because he liked to wear sweats?
I remember him presenting himself as a rational and reasonable individual who was fit for office and a better choice than his opponent.
But, neurological disorders happen. Strokes do change people. This is a tragedy, but one that can be rectified.

We need a better mechanism to remove individuals from office when it's clear they are suffering from detrimental neurological issues. Recall the GOP rep who was found in a dementia focused nursing home after her office stopped answering calls from constituants?

We need to be able to remove politicians who've demonstrated that they can no longer fulfill the duties of their office. But that would cut a good 70% or so of the government, and they'll never put themselves out of their cushy jobs.

Too many factors to take into account, history, geography, voting systems, mix of voting systems, demographics… Main one is not replying so much on the winner-takes-all system used by the States, though.

(FWIW, Australia uses ranked-voting for their House of Representatives. Still ends up a Labour (Democrats equiv.) and Liberal/National (Republicans) duopoly, but at least they have third parties and independents.)

Our system is just broken. You can have someone win with less than 40% of the popular vote as long as they get more votes than the other candidates. Heck, Trump had just under 50% of the popular vote and we are stuck with him now.

President of the United States is operating a pump and dump scheme with electronic Monopoly money and the "opposition party" can't grow enough muscle to even wag a finger in disapproval.
