When an action figure is lacking in articulation and/or posing options, it’s common enough to hear people refer to it as a “statue” (or, alternatively and perhaps more commonly, a “brick”). Well, it seems the folks at Takara Tomy have decided to lean into that term where one of their upcoming Transformers offerings. Scheduled for a release in Spring of 2025 at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price to be determined, the newly-announced Karakuri Statue KS-01 Convoy is described on the official websiteas follows (via Google Translate): Reservations will open in the Summer of 2024 at the official Takara Tomy Mall website, among others. It’s BotCon’s 30th anniversary, and to celebrate, they’re taking the event back to where it all began: Ft. Wayne, Indiana! YO JOE! It's a merry Anniversary for these soldiers of action, having started back in 1964, years before the Real American Hero toy line in the 80s. Hasbro and the Joe Team have provided us with several digital reveals. Let's see what they have in store for us this year: We have the Mainline releases to show off first. Carl "Doc" Greer. The G.I. Joe Chief medic. Since he's taken the Hippocratic Oath, he's not a fighter. That firing weapon you see is a flare gun. A stretcher to carry any injured Joes on the battlefield. With some Tylenol pill bottles around his helmet, this doctor is ready to save you from hurting your hands from handling toys. Put away your sticks and paper, boys, because Dreadnok Torch has been let loose on Classified. Armed with his skull-headed flamethrower, dual pistols, and some spicy flame effects, you hope you don't burn yourself when putting him on a fiery display photo. Deadly and swift, here comes the Night Creepers! A mercenary group trained in counterintelligence and covert ops, they get contracted out by Cobra, because their forces just suck at it right now. You know the old saying, "Never send a Dreadnok to do a ninja's job"? Well, it's not old. I made it up, but that should be a saying they should subscribe to. With her training now complete, the heir to the Arashikage clan is here to fight off corrupted forces within the clan itself. Kim "Jinx" Arashikage is coming to the Classified line. With her naginata and sword in hand, she can use it while also being blindfolded, which makes her a harder foe to defeat! Now comes some more double feature offerings. Tiger Force is coming out of the jungle with these 2 striped soldiers on hand. Tiger Force Tripwire and Roadblock are coming soon. With Roadblock's signature Browing machine gun on hand, and a new backpack accessory, one wonders if a Retro release will be possible from this offering. Tripwire comes with M.A.C.E.L.O.D, also deco'd with a nasty animal face, growling at mines from daring to explode. No mouse for him though. Or the extra vests and helmet. Guess you got to keep the price down for this 2 pack when one of them was a 35.99 deluxe release. And with the final offering today, we have one more Dreadnok for you to poach. This hunter hunts big game animals, and now he's being called in to hunt some Joes in his territory: the desert! Gnawgahyde (Gnaw-Gah-hyde) is going to be a Figure plus Pet release. But he just ain't coming with his trusty boar, Porkbelly. We have a little monkey companion (a macaque), Yobbo, to come along for the thrills. Never trust a monkey with an eyepatch, guys, no matter how cute it is. What reveals, huh? Hopefully, they'll go up for pre-order sooner than later. Announced unlockables are the Matrix Blade (at 15,000 backers) and two Global Space Bridge display stands (at 16,000 backers). Looks like we have ourselves some new reveals that are once again spoiled for us fans. But we don't really mind that, do we? And this time, it's once again concept-based. Looks like we got ourselves a first look at what appears to be Bumblebee Movie Concept Art Sunstreaker🌅, coming from the TFW2005 message boards! While Concept Art characters still have a contentious space for Studio Series collectors, there are plenty of people that are looking forward to more figures based on this idea. And Sunstreaker here seems to fit that bill, especially if you want a Cybertronian mode for this vain yellow not-a-Camaro. His alt-mode is alright. We all should know he is suppose to turn into a sleek car mode, even if it's not Earth-based. He only includes one gun accessory. Which the pic doesn't have him hold or attach to his modes. He has some 5mm pegs on the side of his car mode, so that's probably where you can place the gun there. Hopefully official stock photos can showcase how well his articulation and play gimmick goes. The next character we have been shown is Selects Trailbreaker🛻, revealed by JTPrime17 as part of an Autobot 5-pack coming to Generation Selects. Trailbreaker here is currently tooned up. Found on Yahoo! Japan as an auction, That's most likely the design aesthetic to be reached for this upcoming 5-pack. We don't know when he's coming exactly, but for those who missed out on Earthrise TB back in 2020, this is your chance to get him plus 4 other bots to add to your collection, which reportedly include Jazz, Wheeljack, G1 Sunstreaker (not the BBM one), and the elusive Earth Mode Hound seen from last year. Transformers Year of the Dragon Crimsonflame is an interesting figure, his base molding comes from TLK Steelbane with a new crotch armor, arm bands, dragon legs head and tail, turning him from a wyvern style dragon to an eastern lung in alt mode and a European style knight to an ancient Chinese warrior in robot mode. His accessories are kind of interesting, He comes with a flame blast effect that functions as a dragon breath, a spark for his weapons or a spear head for combined weapon mode, A Chinese lantern with tassels which can be held by dragon mode by the foot or held in robot mode hand What I thought was a fireworks bundle is actually an Iron Three barrel cannon which can be mounted on Crimsonflame’s forearm or attach to the port on his back for an over the shoulder cannon, Next one I thought was a fancy torch but i was informed that it was actually one of the first hand guns made, the Fire lance, this can connect to the back of the Three barrel cannon and or held in his hand like torch, A brick road display stand which can hold all the mentioned accessories at once or if you plug the flame in the dragon’s mouth, you can have Crimsonflame displayed flying in dragon mode or pegged into the back of the stand in robot mode to display him with everything standing and secured . And finally a shield…it plugs onto the back of dragon mode or the robot mode forearm. You aren't gonna be able to store this in the stand with everything, unless I’ve missed something. Articulation in dragon mode oddly lacking, despite having a neck balljointed in two places to swivel joints and a hinge in the middle with an opening mouth, Front legs have limited ball joints that only go side to side and rotate along with a hinge, thanks to being a remold of a TLK figure who’s dragon mode had those legs spread out to become massive wings in dragon mode requiring them to have less articulation for stability reasons. Back legs thanks to being the robot mode arms are a lot more expressive with ball jointed hips, a swivel below that, a hinged knee and a hinged ankle tilt with a swivel connecting it, The tail is the same as the except without the head so you have a ball joint at the base with two swivel joints and two hinge joints. Transformation to robot mode is a interesting to describe, you pretty much turn the tail and dragon neck into legs by folding the inner torso joint connecting the tail towards the head and sliding the dragon belly towards the robot legs to form a torso as the back legs fold up to become arms, creating a an ancient Chinese warrior like robot mode, In this mode the you could combine The flame piece, lantern, cannon and fire lance to create a large hand held weapon, He is around deluxe size with a neck swivel, balljointed shoulders, with swivels under them, a hinged elbow and wrist rotation joints, No waist thanks to transformation, Ball jointed hips with a swivel under them, hinged knees, with the left knee, (our left his right) having the tail folded up against it so you need to flex it to the side a bit to use it, ankle tilts and rotation thanks to ball joints, Crimsonflame is around deluxe height and shares a lot of sculpting with his mold mates, only change being dragon head and tail tips, dragon legs, weapons, crotch armor and robot mode, and yet the tolerances on him are so much better and tighter on every joint. If you can find him for a price you're comfortable with. I’d recommend him.. It looks like our favorite Robots in Disguise are getting medieval! Yes, again! Or at least, the code names to come from a leak are leaning that way. According to the ol' rumor mill, retail code names for a trio of product that appear to be shipping under the Collaborative banner. These are as follows: "Tails" would seem to be the odd one out -- that is, unless that's an unrelated crossover featuring Sonic the Hedgehog's Superstar sidekick, Miles "Tails" Prower. But that's just wild, left-field conjecture. Whether any of these names has anything to do with the product they'll be attached to remains to be seen.
