Nobody has the intention to invade Ukraine

Well, Nazi Germany was working towards making them as well, and may have beat us to it if it wasn't for the interwar brain transfer from Germany to the US.

You're also the psychopaths that gifted those weapons to the world in the first place.
Also kinda the point, Wonko. Yes, while we gave them to the world we are still the only used them in war and therefore are the only ones that can truly claim to understand the destruction caused and consequences of doing so (well us and our victims). For everyone else its theoretical.

And yes I know that sounds egotistical.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Kinda, since the japanese would be more than happy to also claim to understand the destruction and consequences. When it comes to weapons there are always two opinions: the one of the shooter and the one of the person who got shot.

In his own world, of course. You know, the one where he's also a genius inventor and beloved internet celebrity.

Musk is claiming it didn't happen(of course) so right now it's his word vs Bremmer's, barring the latter bringing forth some sort of actual proof.

It's like Musk saw Roger Waters letter writing campaign and said "hold my beer".

And we let this guy be in charge of his own extragovernmental space program. If this dude lands on another planet before NASA does, he's definitely going to claim it for himself, international treaties be damned.

The upshot to that is: All that infrastructure to keep him alive UP THERE, is 90% down here. Food, water, air, repair materials, and all the tools and weapons needed to build, repair, maintain and everything else start here.

If musk wants to shoot his dumbass to mars to die there, we can make sure he dies when the air runs out rather than of old age.

No, no. He's not going anywhere. He's just going to be the guy who owns the planet and the rights to all its resources, up to and including the colonists who actually get sent there to do the work because, guess what, laws against slavery also don't apply in space!

But getting back on topic, I found out why Musk thinks he has the right to weigh in on Ukraine. SpaceX has been providing them with access to his satellites for military purposes, and he's now threatening to revoke it. So he's not just some dumbass pretending he has a say in geopolitics half a world away, he actually has the power to throw the war in Russia's favor and is threatening to do so because he's tired of footing the bill for it.

It's the next step in the evolution of the military industrial complex: war aid as a service, with all that implies.

The worst part is that they're still actually paying to use StarLink. Musk wants to sound like he's doing them a favor, but they're paying customers. He's war profiteering and trying to act like a big boy, and he's throwing a tantrum because they were mean to him.

When a guy thinks Putin is OK but Trudeau is Hitler, he definitely drank the right-wing Kool-Aid.

This is one of the dangers of billionaires. This guy is making foreign policy decisions on his own, with no accountability to anyone but himself: decisions with potentially far-reaching consequences that would normally be made by a government agency accountable to the people, such as the State Department. He's also out there recognizing new borders, thinking he can broker peace agreements on Twitter, etc.

Regardless of whether you agree with his actions, you should be able to recognize the danger in some crazy billionaire having so much power that he can actually influence events like this.

The hell of it is the US has been paying for Starlink from the get go. It was never altruism on Musk's part. Now he's pulled the plug despite being initially and continuing to be paid. There was a time when that'd get you branded as an enemy agent.

He's at least third generation money. His father was a business magnate and his mother was a model who came from money. It's no wonder he's out of touch with the plight of regular people no matter where they may live.

I don't care, he's entertaining!
I feel like there's potential in a comedy show about a real life billionaire trying to use his resources to do the Batman thing, but failing terribly because all of his ideas for gear are terrible and he accidentally outs himself on Twitter.
