Ok, so that's pretty f***** up. It would *almost* be acceptable if it was a high school history class to put the students in the perspective of the atrocities. Almost. But third graders?? Way too young. Completely unable to contextualize anything they are doing or even understand it. What a weird thing to expose them to. I'd really like to know what he thought he was teaching them.

Active hostage situation at a synagogue in Texas. SWAT and FBI have been called in. Authorities are negotiating with the assailant.

Link

Authorities northeast of Fort Worth are negotiating with a man who has apparently taken people hostage at a Colleyville synagogue during services. It is unclear if anyone is injured and how the man may be armed.

The service was being livestreamed on Facebook, and the live recording, which has since been taken down, captured muffled audio of what sounded like negotiations with police.

Colleyville police said they are conducting SWAT operations in the 6100 block of Pleasant Run Road, the location of Congregation Beth Israel. FBI special agents from the Dallas field office are also at the synagogue, a spokeswoman for the agency said.

The hostages fought back and escaped, and the terrorist was killed, so about as good an outcome as was reasonable to hope for.

The FBI, Biden, and media overall are bending over backwards to say the motive is uncertain and maybe this has nothing to do with Jews at all. Meanwhile, the perp said he was trying to secure the release of jihadist Aafia Siddiqui: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/17/world/europe/texas-synagogue-hostages-aafia-siddiqui.html

At her own trial, Siddiqui requested genetic tests of the jurors to make sure no Jews would be in the room with her, then proclaimed that her guilty verdict had been assigned by Israel. During this Texas standoff, the perp called up a New York rabbi at random and asked her to have the conspiracy against Siddiqui reversed.

Because in the mind of these idiots, the Jews all rule the world and one rabbi can overturn everything.

Ironbite-oy vey.

Racism alone is bad enough. Combine it with conspiratorial thinking and religious fundamentalism and it's a recipe for absolute disaster.

Which is what such a law was always going to do.

Ironbite-the GOP doesn't care about a loving home, they only care if they can discriminate legally.

I love Jews; apple Jews, orange Jews but my favourite is Mountain Jew.*

So there's an ongoing story in Germany that took an interesting twist.

Last October, Gil Ofarim, a Jewish German rock musician, wanted to check into a hotel in Leipzig, Germany. There were some technical difficulties in the hotel lobby, and eventually, he ended up posting a video on Instagram in which he accused an employee of the hotel of antisemitism. Most importantly, he alleged having been asked to put away his Star of David necklace he was wearing. The story caused a lot of uproar and protests against the hotel, and was even reported by Israeli and UK media.

Ofarim then reported the hotel employee to the authorities. In return, the hotel employee filed a libel lawsuit against Ofarim.

As it stands now, CCTV footage and witness reports overwhelmingly tell a different story: There's a lot of evidence suggesting that Ofarim wasn't actually wearing his necklace visibly inside the hotel lobby, which would make his initial claims rather absurd. On top of that, several witnesses, who insist they would have protested if they had heard actual instances of anti-semitism, claim that Ofarim was upset because other customers were given an expedited treatment by the hotel staff, which was simply because they were returning customers and already had their affairs prepared beforehand, hence they were not affected by the aforementioned technical difficulties and could be fasttracked regardless of whatever problems the hotel staff was facing. Apparently, this upset Ofarim, and he threatened to post a story on social media to hurt the hotel's reputation.

Right now, Ofarim os facing libel charges.
