It's certainly nothing to the kind of people who can afford to buy an electric car in this economy.

Not mentioned in the headline, but in the article, is hybrids also get hit with a $100 surcharge, and it'll be tied to inflation to increase with it. Meanwhile gas guzzlers get a $20 boost in cost in 5 years(and nothing until then), and some Rs were already raging against that being included.

So the Senate knocked one talking point off the table. In only the strictest sense, they've grabbed partial responsibility for the Trump tariffs. After the fact. After the tariffs created the first quarter in what is almost certain to be a recession.

It is just too dumb.

There needs to be a functional opposing party to take advantage and i'm no longer sure the democrats can.
Remember, Shumer's job is to keep America on the side of Israel, not save us from Trump

No surprise from that asshat. He's really pushing to be the next Trump, but like Desantis, he doesn't have that strange 'untouchable' thing that has carried Trump so far.

He will crash and burn, but he'll take Oklahoma education with him.

That's the thing. None of the "future" GOP has that strange charisma Trump has. None of them do. And even if they did, Trump has spent the last 15 years tearing them down on the way to power.

Ironbite-he can't stand an heir apparent because that would acknowledge he's mortal.

honestly, the best thing for the country would be for Trump to drop dead right now.

No we wouldn't get to impeach him nor have to deal with these issues in a head on sort of way, but there is no way in hell JD would be able to continue the absolute destruction of America. I think a part of Trump's dementia is an inability to acknowledge or understand consequences. Well, that and years of dodging them. JD, though, I think he's smart enough to know exactly what will happen to him.

I am from Oklahoma. I don't know how it is all over the country. I expect at least where Rhinox is from it'll be similar. High School sports are kind of a big deal here. Every sport has a whole coaching staff. But not the budget for those to be full time jobs. So MOST of the high school social studies teachers in Oklahoma are coaches. I think in general they DO get a degree in teaching social studies. But...you know.

I was in honors classes, so I did get TWO real history teachers, but one was still a coach. The rank and file were coaches all the way through. It is POSSIBLE for a coach to also be a great history teacher. People are interested in more than one thing. But for the most part the coaches other interests seem to have been something else.

I almost forgot where I was going with this. I'm not too sure you have to worry about what the curriculum standards are for history in Oklahoma. Most likely the kids will be watching a video and if these guys are interested in history at all, it is going to be WW2.

Do high school history classes in other places actually talk about things as recent as an election 5 years ago?

Agreed. I'm not sure whether "Real JD" is something we've seen. I would LIKE to believe that the real one was the never-Trumper before his political career realized it need it to be more okay-Trump-now, but I don't believe it. I think he may be political on the outside and empty on the inside. If he was suddenly President free and clear I don't think there is any way to guess what policies he would pursue, but one of them would definitely be keeping his tail covered. And I don't believe he is particularly interested in any of Trump's nonstandard agenda items.

Paladin's article said:
The new academic standards for social studies for the coming school year state that students should “identify discrepancies in 2020 elections results by looking at graphs and other information, including the sudden halting of ballot-counting in select cities in key battleground states, the security risks of mail-in balloting, sudden batch dumps, an unforeseen record number of voters, and the unprecedented contradiction of ‘bellweather county’ trends.”

There is absolutely no educational value in discussing unprecedented contradictons of bellweather county trends. It isn't unprecedented and bellweathers are a purely anecdotal phenomenon. You can pay just exactly as much attention to them as you want to, but their meaningfulness extents precisely up to the point that they correctly predict an election and are useless beyond that.

I didn't learn ANYTHING about recent election or probably anything past the Vietnam War in high school. What is it like other places?

Considering Trump's core is an extremely white, racist, Christian nationalist, JD would be very much for covering his ass with his indian wife and children. That core has known Trump was their guy well before David Duke gave his enthusiastic endorsement. JD has clearly shown he is not that guy. I do wonder just how the relationship between him and his wife is right now considering the vitriol towards foreigners coming from his boss.

Yes, Kansas is a lot like Oklahoma. And like Oklahoma we have high school coaches who are also teachers because they have to be. Not because they're good at it or even truly qualified, but by god can they teach a kid to throw a spiral.

Continuing trends of GOP saying stupid jive, I submit to the Midnight Society the Tale of *throws salt in the fire to make it boom* Food Choices in Congress.

Man where would we be without Mike Collins and his history lessons? A lot dumber that's for sure right? Right?

Ironbite-god I hate all these people.

And in a news clip Tom Homan was asked why he and others don't just arrest the city government leaders of sanctuary cities. Meant to be a softball question from one of the bootlicker networks. Tom laughed and said, "Wait till you see what's coming".

Make no mistake people. We are living in a nazi esque uprising. They are serious about disappearing citizens.

Musk will move back toward company business. When asked if he needed a successor in the White House, Musk answered: “Is Buddha needed for Buddhism? Was it not stronger after he passed away?”

I feel like Buddha was probably better at what he did than Musk.

Somehow, the party whose members keep turning out to be pedophiles wanting to be in charge of an organization that keeps protecting pedophiles doesn't surprise me.
