Toys What do you mean jets can't have trailers? Full Reveal of Macross Crossover Basara Prime

Takara Tomy has psted the first full set of images of Synergenex Transformers Macross crossover Basara Prime. The figure converts from Basara Nekki's red VF-19 Excalibur Custom Variable Fighter to Gerwalk Mode (a staple of Macross), a special ground mode with wheels, or guitar-playing robot mode. His microphone-equipped stage can convert to a trailer reminiscent of Rodimus Prime's that can connect to the ground-vehicle form of the main figure. The robot mode head has three face options: neutral, smiling/singing, or Optimus-style faceplate. See the pictures below for more details.

Ridiculous, for sure, but the whole look just screams that it should be Rodimus Prime than Optimus

I kind of like that it combines parts of both along with the Macross stuff. Like it's not really trying to be either Optimus or Rodimus, just allowing itself to reference both designs and remixing them into something new.

Poor jet...it did so many stunts in its early career it wound up in a wheelchair for the anniversary cast reunion show...

Definitely one of the strangest crossovers I've ever seen, and could be equal parts Rodimus/Optimus if they wanted to G1-Character it. I see the intent, but the implementation fits either one.

Personally, I was hoping for a Macross Jetfire crossover or a Titan Size Macross SDF 1. Eh, I'll take what I can get but I think there were better places to go for a crossover than this.

Macross Valkyrie truck mode is hilarious and I love it. Also agree on the leaning more Rodimus than Optimus.

If I can afford this, I will have. It also helps that the YF-19 is one of my favourite Macross fighter designs. Though I‘ve never really liked Macross 7 Basara.

This collab is a head scratcher as M7's VF-19 Excalibur is already a transforming robot with 3 beautiful modes. And this.... as ridiculous and fun as it looks with the Rock 'n Rolling stage as an accessory for a winnebago... the resulting main figure got very little features of Optimus, Rodimus or Kai's Fire Valkyrie, a fighter mode that destroyed the iconic sleek curves of Macross' VF Valykries for the underbelly, an admittedly OK Gerwalk mode & a nothingburger "half a Jet on wheels" 4th mode just doesn't make much sense to me. You have the stage, why don't you at least include a Kai figure?

With the prices TT will be charging to compensate for the Macross license. This is not gonna be a curiosity buy.

We just need to get an OK from Bandai and/or Harmony Gold to redeco any of the existing Macross 1 licensees to the paint scheme and we'll be good.... in theory. But to have that from happening... we'll need more time the all the planets in the Solar System to align. Also Macross SDF-1 x TF will be awesome but cost even more than an Unicron Haslab or two.
