After it hit the media, Amazon went back and approved it, but reminds me of the time they wouldn't let workers evacuate during a tornado warning and said tornado actually hit the warehouse and killed six folks, back in 2021.

That it took public outcry and shaming is appalling.
I'd love to know who the supervisor was that denied her initial request.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Who will inevitable become the scapegoat, but ultimately was just following company policy.

I could've sworn those folks got killed just last year.

Ironbite-man where has time gone.

I'm not disagreeing, but that dude is not the cause of the problem: he's just another victim.

And that's where I disagree. Just following orders doesn't make you a victim, it makes you complacent. He may not be the cause, but he could have done something. And if it had cost him his job, he'd have had one hell of a suit himself. As is, he's hanging ass out in the breeze of negative public attention because he was 'just following orders'.

alabama is at will state. The manager wouldn't have had a case, they would have had a boot print on their ass and an empty wallet. They're complicit, to be true; but it's because they live and work in a place that allowed for the conditions to punish them for doing the right thing.

At some point: especially when it's so easy to be blamed and punished for trying to be a good person; you stop trying.

Complicit, but still a victim of culture.

I'm in an at will state. I get it. But that doesn't remove your responsibilities to do the right thing. I've lost a hell of a lot, including jobs, because I did the right thing and the bosses got mad.
I'm sorry, you still do the right thing. Even when its hard.

As vile as Walmart is, that image is inaccurate. Walmart's starting pay is either $10 or $11 now, higher in some regions and they do have SOME benefits, though they aren't great. As far as prices go, not sure, we don't have that chain locally.

Out of 12373 apps on the list, I have 1. Could be worse, but I'm still pissed.

Fortunately my phone reports that I'm somewhere in South Korea, so the location data they have on me is totally worthless.

TLDR: running a large scale, high population, complex society is can be ******* complicated; and stupid people don't realize that.
