Posted for a bunch of reasons, such as I'd like to show off my one talent, and the fact I don't really know what to do with this yet.
I've been trying to write more, and sometimes I'll get a dumb idea that I have to put to words. This is one such idea:
The premise is basically me wanting to write my own isekai thing, given I'm still really into that. Of course isekai is the 'done to death' thing right now, but I got a dumb idea. What if the powers the person gets in this isekai fantasy world. Are cartoon/loony tunes powers?
Dus we have "My abilities in this isekai are a little looney"
“Happy three-month anniversary, Benny,” a lone figure whispered as he stared at his reflection in his drink. Chugging it down, he almost smiled at the irony of it. What was once a generic alcoholic beer, he’d changed into basic root beer instead. All thanks to the power granted to him by the gods that reincarnated him into this world. To the onlookers in the little broken-down pub he’d found himself in, he’d appear to be drinking away his worries like most of the rest in this place.
Taking another delicious gulp, he smiled. Let them get drunk while he remained sober.
That was the thing about his situation. Even if he cared for the taste of alcohol, he dared not. Not in this town. Border of the Elmeister Empire, it might be, that didn’t mean there weren’t tons of prejudiced dipwits walking around. Any one of them would turn him in in a heartbeat if they suspected his true nature.
Thankful it was also on the border of a desert, which meant the orange shawl he wore over his head wasn’t out of place, though he bet some found it strange he didn’t remove it to drink. He made sure to keep an eye out for anyone staring too long. He didn’t want any trouble. He was already taking a risk using a straw. He wasn’t sure that was something that even existed in this world.
Pulling at the shawl, he winced. He hated how muffled it made the world around him to have to hide his rabbit ears under it. At least sitting in this corner, people wouldn’t notice the little pouch strategically positioned on his rear to hide his fluffy tail. When walking here, he had to consciously take heavy steps so as not to give away his natural nibleness.
It was the same in most of the Empire, or so he’d heard. That’s why he got isekaied here in the first place. The gods wanted him to help fix the broken views of the people. Beast folk were never meant to be lesser creatures. Never meant to be inferior, but as typical in these worlds, if he was to go off other iseaki stories he’d read, the humans had subjugated any human/ animal hybrid into beings not unlike slaves or pets.
It was sickening.
Thankfully, not all places were like this. In fact the farther away you got from this cesspool, the more you’d find the humans and beast folk living in harmony. It was quite the contrast to here, but here is where he was needed. All he had to do was keep a low profile.
CRASH!
“You stupid cat!” Benny heard a man bellow. Unable to help himself, he turned to see a small, meek-looking girl kneeling over two spilled mugs of beer, looking terrified. At a glance, one might think she was nothing more than a young lady, no older than fourteen if he had to guess. She had black hair, as any normal person would. Except she also sported two things humans wouldn’t. A long cat tail and a pair of cat ears.
A beast person slave.
“All you have to do is carry the mugs TO the table and not drop them!” A rather mean and greasy-looking man screamed at the terrified little girl. As for the man he had fiery red hair that included a big rough beard on his face. He wore what you’d expect from a bar owner in a seedy bar. White-stained shirt, stained tan apron around his waist. Black pants that, if they were stained, it was hard to tell on the dark fabric. He held a large butcher knife in his right hand. Making it so no one dared challenge him. Benny couldn’t help but notice that only a couple of the many patrons showed any sort of concern.
He was disgusted with the many who didn’t care, and yet didn’t blame those who might keep quiet. The guy looked nearly like a red-haired version of Bluto. Any normal person who went up against him would likely get killed.
Meanwhile, the poor cat girl was on her stomach, desperately trying to clean up the spill with her own shirt. A tattered rag that might have been white at some point in time. Now it was a dirty brownish rag that barely covered her chest. Her ‘skirt’ wasn’t much better. In fact if you asked him, Benny would say that it resembled Cinderella’s dress after her evil sisters ripped it apart.
“Are you listening to me trash?” The big man continued to shout, slamming his foot down on her back. The poor girl yelped in pain before quickly covering her mouth in fear.
“Was that you talking back?” The man asked, his voice growing cold. The girl shook her head.
“What? I can’t hear you!” The man screamed, his mouth twisting into a horrible grin.
“Itth horrible, ithn’t it?” He heard from his right. There sat a woman covered in a brown cloak. She spoke with a weird lisp, but her distaste was clearly heard. She was among the few who had shown disdain earlier.
