Transformers: Cyberworld, Starscream City

I’m surprised Mirage made the cut given his status as a retailer exclusive (here in the US, at least), and I don’t mind this direction they took. Despite looking like a jet G1 Mirage, the personality gave me something closer to RotB Mirage (especially with his powers). This little series is giving me G1 vibes where the scripts aren’t terribly in depth, the strong visual direction and strong voice acting elevates some fairly pedestrian concepts and story beats.
I do appreciate some really novel use of Mirage’s powers, and it’s clear that the writers know a general “toy plan” and were given enough time to “play” with the character concepts when writing these instead of writing a complete shell of a series and “slotting in” different toys.

Plus, LANDSHARK.

This setting is a nice change of pace. I wouldn't mind staying here a while.

It's so weird. The videogame theme does nothing for me. I don't connect with it. But I am enjoying this silly show. It works in its own weird way.

It was weird to see a Mirage so visually based on G1 Mirage and so character-based on Rise of the Beasts movie Mirage.

It's fine. It just took a little adjustment to line up with a Mirage that acts so out of character with the Mirage in my brain.

-ZacWilliam, show has been good but the episodes are airing too far apart and that's making it hard for me to get into it or excited by the story.

Frontpaged, for anyone interested.

And yes, I did post the actual episode title this time, and not a sarcastic remark about the ever-changing YouTube titles like I was going to.

All I have to say is...

Boom! SharKar!

Please tell me someone's keeping a list of these constantly changing titles. This is absurd.

Episode 6 (non-geo-blocked).

Was that afew bases of the Beast Wars music and a Beast Machines drones/Cybertron homage at the very start?

They should just adopt my thread titles as official 🙃
Yes, let's add one more title to the pile!

This is an interesting new element of this being a YouTube thing, from this era of YouTube. But annoying.

It's been a pretty interesting ride so far, and you can kind of see the patterns. Episode has a few backstory drops, spotlights a new toy or two, furthers the main mechanics, has lots of pew pew action for the ol' attention span, passes the baton to the next. To do all that in five minutes, with so much of that being fight padding, AND add little bits to the characters that make them fun and interesting, is no small feat. (I've also been dealing with VERY dodgy internet over the last two days or so, so only having to cache five choppy minutes was appreciated. Although I'm sure I missed some stuff, like did Mirage say early in the episode why he has wings? Is that just a Starscream City thing?)

It was a bit jarring to leave the jungle/natural environments completely for the more cyber part of Cyberworld, although I sense we may be going back to see them recruit the dinos now. Still curious to see where the rest of this goes.

Someone on Tumblr has been translating all the Cybertronian text in Cyberworld (truly doing the lord's work), and the background signs in Episode 5 (the Mirage intro ep) are really interesting:

All Hail Starscream

NOT A LIAR

Emperor Starscream

and my personal favorite . . .

Live, laugh, obey.
