Soundwave and Elita-1 look like she just walked in on him in the middle of a shower. I'm just sayin'.
It's time for a new episode of Transformers: Cyberworld, and that means it's time for a new Transformers: Cyberworld recap/review! (And if you're here after hearing me talk about it during this past weekend's Transformers: Devastation live stream -- hiya!)
This week's episode, "Waves in the Water," is described on the official YouTube channel as follows:
Elita-1 and Wheeljack are ambushed by a terrifying new version of Soundwave!
Feral, super-powered and almost unrecognisable, SEA MONSTER Soundwave has been transformed by a mysterious energy, and Elita-1 is caught in his clutches. Meanwhile, Bumblebee continues his mission alone... but not for long.
And here's the episode, along with a lot of extra baggage tacked on after, in the forms of "the Season 1 game scenes of Episodes 27, 4, 20, 13, and 2, the entirety of Episode 24, and the games scenes of Episodes 11, 14, 21, 6, and 8 all attached at the end" (thanks, Sabrblade!).
Now, let's get down to it!
We pick up just after where we left off last episode, as Elita and Wheeljack learn what kind of anime Soundwave has been watching.
The two try to formulate a plan, but "Soundwave superior" and all of that. No, he doesn't say it, but he definitely seems to be showing it by diving to where they can't track him and apparently disabling Wheeljack's drone, which he only just manages to save (and should really have a toy of its own in a Deluxe pack. Just saying...).
Aside: Everyone says Optimus is "Transformers Jesus," but I haven't seen him walk on water like my boy Wheeljack here.
Not only do we seem to know what Squidwave has been watching, but also what Wheeljack has been playing -- I got a bit of a Sonic Adventure 2 vibe off the way he ran up those tentacles to drop some bombs on the Decepticon.
The Autobots go on the run and pause on a small patch of land out in the water as Soundwave pursues, and Wheeljack is intrigued by the waterproof Walkman's resistance to damage and his offensive capabilities. (Well, he is one of the bigger toys...)
As Elita covers him, Wheeljack gets his drone online again in an effort to get more readings, but they have to book it out of there due to 'Wave's huge wave, with Elita using her speedboat alt mode and 'Jackie improvising water skis with his energy whip and floaty footies.
They climb the crest and come out swinging -- well, firing -- but Soundwave lives up to his name and emits a pulse that knocks them both aside, then he grabs them in his tentacles -- hey, isn't this where we came in?
Anyway, Wheeljack dooms us all by invoking the rule of Joe Hendry -- say his name, and he appears. Unfortunately, the name he said was Bumblebee.
We cut over to the Intolerable Hulk as he gives a cute euphemism for Wheeljack and Elita having their heads up their butts. He then proceeds to go full villain by crushing a flower, beating up on the environment, and talking about how they don't know true power when they see it.
Then, he runs into Chop Shop, who is more than happy to tell Bee what he wants to hear, all about how big and strong and manly he is -- before electrocuting himself in one of BB's sockets to the big bot's amusement.
Back at the ocean ranch, Wheeljack decides that now would be a good time to try out some new toys, and has his drone deploy some torpedoes. Look, 'Jackie, I love you, but... you're only deciding to try utilizing a sub-surface aquatic-based weapon now?!
Well, maybe it wasn't the best idea: Soundwave namesakes again, and I guess reprograms the torpedoes to U-turn and go after the Autobots instead.
Elita points out that something must have happened to Squidwave, as "he was never this powerful on Cybertron". (I'm calling haxx0r.)
After some more running, Elita gets hit and they try to make a break for it, but they find themselves surrounded by tentacles. Then Soundwave himself emerges and lets out a roar powerful enough to throw the two hella far -- right onto another tiny patch of land that he begins to swim around.
Hate to say it, Wheeljack, but as much as I like Elita, I think you're going to need a bigger boat.
I have no idea what Wheeljack says at this part -- I can't make it out, and subtitles say "THE HEAD SHREDDER DIED". I didn't know we were doing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover? Think Party Wallop will save them?
Probably not, and it's just as well: Elita must be a big fan of Oroku Saki, because she whips out her big rifle and angrily starts screaming and shooting at Squidwave with it.
It looks like the Wave beneath the waves has disappeared, but then he goes into "Will It Blend?" mode with his tentacles, and sure enough, the patch of land will indeed blend!
He sends them flying -- again. It's really hard to figure out what he's trying to do here, I have to say. Then he deploys his detachable beast head capture claw thingy to retrieve Wheeljack with a big CHOMP. We have less than a minute left, so Elita comes to the rescue with a nice line that provides a good bit of character continuity about sea creatures taking her friends.
She rides the thing back, and it reattaches to Soundwave. She tries to get away, but he grabs her. Unbeknownst to him, however, she tossed more bombs into the maw of that thing, and he only realizes it when they start beeping and glowing in his backpack.
Kaboom.
The two are blown away from each other far enough and fast enough offscreen that I'm surprised an announcer didn't shout "GAME!"
Wheeljack comes to on an island or some piece of land somewhere, with no Elita in sight.
Elita comes to elsewhere, and is greeted by... "Jazz?"
After that, we cut to a black screen with white text that reads "In loving memory of Peter Cullen. Till all are one." Then a fade to unusually silent credits.
A touching moment, perhaps made all the more fitting by the absence of Optimus Prime from this episode. Sure, Cullen doesn't play him here, but come on -- his presence is felt in pretty much all that is Optimus Prime.
All in all, good episode. It didn't really move the greater plot forward much, but I think it's probably setting things up for next time. Hey, if Elita found Jazz, who knows who or what Wheeljack might find? (Hopefully not Bumblebee!)

What did you think? Catch anything I didn't? Feel free to talk about this episode here, or the series as a whole over in the "Transformers CyberWorld: Energon Brouhaha" thread in our forums!
