After another week off, it's time for another week on Cyberworld!
For "Hider & Seeker," the YouTube description is thus:
Starscream is hunting the Autobots through Cyber City - and getting caught means game over. No time to reunite, no time to explain - just RUN. Mirage confronts Wheeljack about his “death,” secrets start spilling, and trust is breaking fast.
Check it out:
As an added bonus, Sabrblade says that the game scenes -- yes, only those -- from episodes 6, 2, 8, and 11 are attached afterward. Eh, makes more sense than running the previous three episodes backwards, at least.
Anyway, here's my spoiler-filled recap and thoughts:
Things pick up where we left off last week with Starscream in hot pursuit of our heroes through the streets of Cyber City, and we get a much better look at the place in daytime now -- or a close enough facsimile. It's much more brightly lit under a cloudy sky, at any rate.
Mirage is helping Team Optimus out, and Big Bot's big idea is to make a break for the border of the city.
I like how Mirage and Elita are riding atop Bumblebee and Wheeljack's car modes, but when they transform to parkour around and over obstacles, it gets under Mirage's skin a bit.
Wheeljack has commandeered one of the drones he made for Starscream, and is using it to help fight back. Nice.
They group splits up, with some odd pairings that make sense for advancing the story. Elita and Bumblebee are one, and Optimus goes solo, leaving Mirage and Wheeljack, which is where the focus of said story goes.
As they're sneaking around to evade detection, Mirage gets a bit pushy with Wheeljack, demanding to know where he's kept himself all this time. After all, a guy like Mirage could use that kind of info -- for himself, mostly. Mirage uses a hologram of himself to get in Wheeljack's way, and I grinned a little at Wheeljack being more fascinated than anything as he pokes at the holographic Mirage and it just tries to swat his hands away. It's a small touch, but a nice one.
Wheeljack's intrigue continues as Mirage cloaks/warps/something with Wheeljack and reappears to pin him up against a wall. Jackie isn't bothered, though -- he wants a look at Mirage's schematics. Which, I mean, fair.
It's too bad these two don't seem to get along, as it seems like they'd have a lot to offer each other. Maybe that will be a future development? If it is, I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Wheeljack zaps Mirage with something to get him to back off, content to keep his own secrets. Mirage gets so frustrated that he yells out, alerting one of the nearby drones.
They get on the same page quick enough, with Wheeljack performing some fancy footwork to get the drop on a drone, then using his energy whip to reel them down to where Mirage can punch it.
Starscream got an eyeful there, to his annoyance, but it was funny when he uses his scanners, and we just see both Mirage and Wheeljack kicking at the drone while it's on the ground.
As Screamer closes in, Wheeljack decides to use that T-Cog-looking item of his, which gives him enough power to not only punch Starscream with enough power to stop him in his tracks, but send him flying backwards into a dumpster. (Insert your own joke here.)
Optimus meets up with them, then they quickly find Bumblebee and Elita while Starscream's foot is sticking out of the dumpster and occasionally twitching. Good stuff.
As they're running, Optimus asks about the device Wheeljack used, noting that they encountered one before. Wheeljack is surprised and asks if they used it. "Once or twice." Apparently that's really dangerous, and there are potential side effects to be concerned about, but we don't get to find out more just yet.
As another drone, controlled remotely by Starscream sitting atop his dumpster-throne, starts raining down laser fire on the group, our gear boy Wheeljack transforms and drops a device behind them that spews smoke and shorts out the drone before transforming and driving off again.
They reach the border, expecting to find a way into the jungle, but are instead blocked. Wheeljack pulls up a map, and they're at the southwest border, which is blocked off by a barrier -- locked, as he puts it, noting that the world is artificial and the regions they can enter are limited.
Wheeljack explains about the underground tunnels, and the not-too-subtly eavesdropping Mirage hears all he needs to before pulling his vanishing act and leaving our heroes once again. And not a moment too soon, as the chase is on again!
Meanwhile, out in the jungle, Grimlock and Snarl are enjoying the now-Megatron-less world, when something attacks the big lug. As Snarl Sonic-runs to check on his comrade, Grimlock looks desperately at Snarl with only one word: "Run."
All in all, this was a pretty good episode, as Transformers: Cyberworld continues to engross and entertain a surprising amount in only five minutes' time. This one felt less about advancing the story than moving certain pieces into place and passing certain info along, but it did so in an entertaining way.
Oh, and I think that whatever attacked Grimlock was Galvatron. But I guess we'll see! Hopefully it won't be too long before we find out.

Feel free to talk about this episode here, or the series as a whole over in the "Transformers 2 Cyber 2 World" thread in our forums!
