I kind of want them to make it with a proper United States flag. The ensuing outrage from morons (and, sure, Dukes purists) might be enough for me to step outside and make s'mores from the other side of the world.

And then Toyhax could come up with a set that has the usual cel-shaded windows... and a Pride flag. S'more s'mores.

Also, I know there is a certain amount of baggage that would need to be addressed, but a list of 80s vehicles that ought to cross over with Transformers isn't really complete without The Dukes Of Hazzard. The General Lee is fairly iconic even without the original flag on the roof, and I have long wished we could see a Barricade reimagining as Roscoe's Sheriff's cruiser.
I think that if you replaced the flag with the American flag, it would look pretty good!

Throw everyone a curveball by making it with the United Kingdom flag!

Paint it blue, put the french flag on it call it the general montcalm.
Red one with a Union Jack. Blue one with fleur-de-lis. General Wolfe vs General Montcalm two-pack with a free maple candy.

Keep the ideas coming! I would LOVE a voyager/leader Enterprise. For Star Wars, we never got an AT-AT or AT-ST did we? What about 90's vehicles?

The vast majority of Star Wars could use redos.
I still think the decision to make the mech modes as robot versions of characters hurt them. What I (and presumably others) wanted to see was TFs with SW vehicle altmodes. Not necessarily Bumblebee as a Snowspeeder or Starscream as a TIE Fighter, but maybe, or new characters.

That being said-- Star Wars vehicles seem to just be trickier than real ones as altmodes.

anyways do y'all think the speed racer x transformers collab figure will get the color of the mach 5 right or will it continue the decades long incorrect colors used on american produced artwork, merchandise, and even the live-action movie that depicts the mach 5 as entirely white
Best case scenario, Tatsunoko forces them to make the bottom half of the car blue.
Worst case scenario, the toy is a head.

"You mean a headmaster."

No.

I don't think they're significantly trickier than other sci-fi altmodes. I think it's more to having to get the licensor to approve the product and they're probably not keen on having their IP be compromised to fit in robot parts.

Disney did approve a few flat out WEIRD Chogokin, including combiners. They approved some strange departures like samurai themed Star Wars armored characters. But when a licencer wants to make a $400+ specialty collectors item you probably don't argue as much as with an action figure a ten year old may see in the store with his nostalgic Grandmother and you have to sell a few cases to get the same return cut.

Sadly, it seems to be have been lost in the crash. The crash happened right after that went up. It is almost like Hasbro was trying to erase it so people wouldn't know where all their ideas came from......

Dang. Guess Internet Archive is no help either, huh?

Iirc it got eaten by the big crash. But I've got the goods.

I feel the same way about GI Joe, and instead we get existing characters as GI Joe vehicles. We know they were on Earth during GI Joe, in their normal alt modes, during all the crossovers, so it'd be nice to see some unique guys. I actually love the idea of new Cybertronians who either prefer Earth, or were born there a la the recent show (Earthspark?). It's the perfect way to explain new guys who just want to live on Earth with Humans in Earth vehicle modes, or even "work with" factions such as GI Joe. It just feels like such a gimme explanation. I think they used it for the first few Collabs essentially too, didn't they? Ectotron etc.

Okay, fair, but TIEs? Any spindly outcropping is tricky. I mean, a car is basically a block. A plane is sort of a block with a couple sheets. Spindles and outcroppings make things harder.

So I think there's two parts: the designs themselves, and the additional constraints.

I mean-- compare Maverick to almost any other TF jet. So I don't disagree, I just don't think that's all of it.

i think the Vader one that turned the wings into a shield and cape was pretty cool. There’s also one that turned into a generic pilot who uses them as giant arm-mounted shields.

Maverick’s problem was that he was colored like pigeon crap.
