Haywire

It does seem kind of odd; Amalgamous' implementation seems to be stealing Nexus' shtick. It looks pretty cool, and certainly unique, but it makes a person wonder how Nexus will turn out?

Shockwave was Shockwave the whole time...

He was also Elvis. Became quite popular, I hear, though I'm not sure where he got the Pretender shell from. Amazing voice and dance moves but never could figure out how to write a movie to save his life.

Seriously, though, it wouldn't surprise me if Nexus was a repaint/recipient of a few parts from both Bruticus and Superion, which would explain some of the cross compatibility beyond an Alpha Bravo recipient for Vortex.

Nexus is a Voyager.

I wish we knew more, but I'm impressed that we don't. This line started out as leaky as ever but they clearly put some Flextape on that jive.

unluckiness

Somehow still sane

I don’t think that Vortex being compatible with the Superion parts is intended for any reason other than planes and helicopters being more similarly shaped with each other than cars.

I'm not sure how Nexus Prime would work from Aerialbot and Combaticon limbs anyway. The Aerialbots just fold into blocks to attach into the frame, but Brawl forms the whole shin.

Oh it is ABSOLUTELY intentional so they have the option of doing Alpha Bravo. Zero doubt there IMO.

-ZacWilliam, now whether they actually do alpha bravo, who knows, But it's silly to imagine this wasn't specifically set up so it was a possibility

At that price point it may be a Power Core Combiners like situation where the limbs have rudimentary robot modes, if that. But who knows.

Alpha Bravo is a quick and easy repaint for any G1 Vortex mould going forward, so it makes sense that they wouldn't go out of their way to make sure it couldn't work.

Anyway Nexus is a Voyager and Evan (I think?) said "he's a combiner of sorts."

Given what they've done with Amalgamous and Micronus fitting non-conventional designs and play patterns into these price points, I'm optimistic for Nexus. I don't expect him to be a full on Combiner, but I'm pretty sure they've figured out something fun for him.

A PCC figure- a base torso and drone limbs- that removed the springs would be pretty promising. PCCs were held back by the fact that the limbs were spring loaded. You couldn't pose or adjust them much. But if you allow for more of that... could be cool.

In other words, Energon Optimus's super mode.

I would have bought every PCC if they were made of real plastic instead of recycled wax or whatever it is they used. I never cared even a little bit about the drones not having robot modes. For the easy price, and the convenience of coming in one box instead of being paced out over an entire year or more, they were as fun as they needed to be.

If that's how they handle Nexus, I'm in.

I don't want to ruin the ones I have, but I'm pretty confident that I could scratch some of that plastic apart with a fingernail.
