You're right! I guess he just wanted to both honor his hero AND imply that he was both "rockin' through the night" and "a beautiful sight."
Yeah, Big Convoy is called that more due to his width and mass, not his height, which is roughly the same size as Lio Convoy and much, much smaller than Magmatron.
I think Big Convoy calls that the "mammoth tank" mode.
Aka the BLAMmoth.

I got my Lio Convoy, a few days ago, he looks simply beautiful, WAY better than what was produced before, the main retooling is the Lion's head, it can now open up and spin like the original toy, they also replaced the forearms pieces of the Lion's mane, combined with a better paint job than the original verison of the mould, he is simply AWESOME, makes me wonder if Takara will do something similar with Big Convoy, thou I do have the original figure which looks pretty awesome after all of these years

Of course, he claims he won the fight, but what really happened was he said "Look! A shooting star!" and when Magmatron hit the dirt to take cover, Big Convoy ran like crazy.
I realize the reason I never liked Superion's cartoon look is that it looks like he's wearing a toilet seat as armor.
More so now, it looked like to me. At least, after I had looked up pictures of the originals to make sure the joke would land.
So, my Age of the Primes Sideways is apparently in some state of limbo at Hasbro Pulse. I called them about it today, and they said that they would get back to me about it.
I really, really hope that they do. I'm getting flashbacks to the Siege Omega Supreme mess here.

Amazon Canada posted some early listings for next year, giving possible release dates. Nothing really new for Age of the Primes, but the release dates seem a bit farther back than anticipated
