$75 (US) though, ouch. I suspect the Dark Sabre will come out with an unrelated character to milk fans too.

I believe this new version is based upon the limited edition, mail-away Takara-Japan exclusive version, which we grey instead of tan parts?

I certainly am. And I'm glad not to need to find storage for another trailer, although I skipped the original Commander so it would've been nice to experience the combination.

He was shown driving with it, but he never combined with it. He just got real big like a sentai monster.

I'd like to get the Minicons, but I don't know if I want them enough to buy a Commander for them. (Now, if they'd been in Dark Saber colors......)

The price is a little baffling-- IIRC it's been a while since convention-exclusive toys have had a real markup from the originals. The listing refers to Nemesis as Voyager-class, so that's less than half of the set's cost-- no way the Star Saber is also a Voyager.

If Nemesis is closer to Leader, that's better. I mean, I don't have Commander Armada Optimus to judge. (I'm assuming the Star Saber would/could be sold as a Deluxe, but that's a total guess.)

Someone please check my initial assertion, too.

Edit/update: I guess I'm saying I want it but am having a hard time justifying the cost.

Yeah, his vehicle mode had a trailer in the cartoon, but he never combined with it in robot mode since his original toy was made from the trailer-less Super-Con figure:

His robot mode reminds me of Optimus Primal.

Size-wise, Armada Optimus is right in line with all the other non-SS86 Generations Optimii. Most of those are Voyagers, though the others with trailers are Leaders. The size and complexity of the Armada trailer certainly accounts for some of the bump up from Leader to Commander, though the extra combination complexity for the cab would factor in too. So certainly seems like the cab alone would probably be more expensive than a Voyager, but by how much is anyone's guess.

Voyagers are 35. Soundwave's cassettes have been sold as core class price of $12 though these have no accessories (though also, they have elbows for a change), so even with tall that, this still feels overpriced.

Why does Nemesis Prime come with the Air Defense Team anyway? Shouldn't he have their Dark Saber repaints?
And then the regular colors could be made available in a less expensive way.

He used a dark varent of it in the show, but Hasbro decided to package the original colours with Nemesis, much like they did Jolt with the Powered up Hot shot redeco/repaint, maybe we'll see later down the line the Dark Saber repaint of the Minicons, of course, I wonder if they'll do Armada Optimus in the colours he had for the final stretch of the show, thou we not seen Armada Starscream repainted yet into Thundercracker
