Transformers: Age of the Primes Thread: ll First Post All Listings II Update : April 12th, 2027 Bonus Wave: Repaint fun, Beast Wars, G2, Machine Wars

[The Mighty Mollusk]

Make the combiner kibble another dinosaur. Hell, make it Scorn and have his sail become a giant axe. Split the torso between him and Grimlock, like Hook and Long Haul. If Generations is supposed to be the line for more creative takes going forward, then by all means, get creative with it.

[The Predaking]

My guess it will be Defensor first as they are focused on season 1 & 2 combiners so far, Computron is a season 3 combiner, but that simply guessing on my part!

As for Bruticus, my Onslaught should be shipping out this week and hopefully be here by Friday at the latest with Sideways (Armada) while Swindle is a couple of months off, but then I'm also waiting for Hasbro UK to get Liokasier shipped out, they are being extremely slow on him

I would love to get a Computron, as sadly that was one I lost in the purge of 2018.

[Undead Scottsman]

I think there's an unlicensed dinobot combiner the uses Skarr (or just a random anklyosaur) for the extra bits. That'd probably be what I'd suggest.

[The Mighty Mollusk]

But make it not terrible.

[Steamed Hams]

Well they've done cores, deluxes, leaders so next they could try voyagers or titan class.
Deluxe Slash as a sword, voyager Skarr as a shield and Club would be aces.

[Steevy Maximus]

hasbro

it's time

give us

the beast

[unluckiness]

I was thinking that "base" Grimlock would be a Jurassic Park style T-rex that the frame stuff attaches to to form the 80’s T-Rex's trunk junk

[Noip]

Maybe all the dino trailer parts can combine together to make the closet the Autobots used to keep them in back in G1.

[lastmaximal]

Volcanicus is a bunch of Dinobots, and a bunch of frame parts that turn into a volcano.

[Platypus Prime]

On the subject of combiners, DNA's new kit functionally is a frame combiner Monstructor. It uses the extra parts as some sort of base, others stick on the monsters. It's cumbersome looking but adds extra IDW arms among other things.

I never actually did get a Monstructor, I'm half tempted to get one, this kit, and a couple of my Schleich Eldrador Creature things I already have a few of and call it 'good enough'.

[Echowarrior]

I went ahead and preordered that kit. Love that it's a little different from the ones they did for Volcanicus/Dinoking.

[Sciflyer]

I have Monstructor and I really want to like that set. However, I just don't care about 90% of it. I think for all of the bulk and bluster it adds to combined mode, it makes the noggin look teeny tiny. It would have been cool to see an alternate head at least. And, of course, in typical DNA fashion, the kit costs half as much as the actual figure it's "upgrading", so there's that.

I think that there was some chatter several months ago from Nonnef, re: some Pretender-style shells for the individual bots, so I will keep an eye out for that. Otherwise, Monstructor au Naturel is fine with me.

[CoffeeHorse]

That looks terrible. Monstructor already has all the upgrades Volcanicus needed.

[lastmaximal]

It's not for me. All I'd need is the bits that add the vestigial tiny arms, preferably on something that looks better than that chunk hanging under the original chest. Maybe some things that flesh out the monster altmodes a bit more, but only if they integrate well (always a challenge for stuff designed after the fact). Everything recycled from the Volcanicus and Dinoking kits is an easy, easy pass. I mean, not like I can afford to spend on upgrade stuff right now anyway. But the original set already has decent platform feet, fists, and overall proportions.

[The Mighty Mollusk]

Impressive. They actually made Slog's monster mode look worse.

[Superomegaprime]

Volcanicus is a bunch of Dinobots, and a bunch of frame parts that turn into a volcano.

That would be rather explosive, wouldn't it?

[Platypus Prime]

For now Monstructor does not appear to be selling out, and the kit doesn't ship till next year. I know Dinoking has had a few sales, I may see if Monstructor has one later.

[LordGigaIce]

AotP Monstructor is a goblin made of goblins and I love him/them. DNA attempting to fix him just made him look lamer.

[unluckiness]

I don’t particularly care for or against the IDW monstructor design, but DNA’s attempt looks like Monstructor's wearing a tan tank top

[Rhinox]

I like the look and will get the kit. But Monstructor is one of those 'had him as a kid' things so I love everything about them and it has nothing to do with logic or anything. I freely admit the nostalgia is driving me on this one.

As far as Joyride, I tried to fold down the front 'forks' on his back and that worked, but it isn't very elegant. I hope we get a better Joyride in the future.
