Well, yes. IIRC they're the oldest TF toys/characters that haven't really been redone.

*Technically* Camshaft and Overdrive have been, but IMO INO (lol), and Downshift sure hasn't.

AND ANOTHER THING as a team, they should all be done within a short timeframe and with a consistent design philosophy (for lack of a better term).
Very much agreed on that last line. While there's been lip-service to "we like to do full teams" for the past decade or so, there's often such a long gap between members that it hardly seems like there was any intention behind it all when they started out. Indeed, with the Insecticons before the most recent versions, it seemed like the whole design philosophy had changed between first and last. I'd very much appreciate it if they put more energy into getting team members out at about the same time as each other, better enabling informed decision-making on whether or not to go after a full set.

Back in the Old Days, that was an excuse for the lack of combiners-- they'd all have to be the same pricepoint and in the same wave, and now it's the other way where the components are spread out over multiple waves.

There should really be a middle ground, especially for small teams.

To be fair, if you have to go that far back to point out an example, that suggests things have improved since (especially with the Insecticons as a point of comparison).

It hasn't been uniformly effectively done in all instances, and given the sizes/lengths of lines shrinking it's taken a fair amount of time to find extra spots to get things out in (multipacks, capsules, multipacks in capsules). Sure, it might be easier and more convenient to plot out a line that has, say, all three Triggerbots in it. And if there were more of a conceptual or fictional spine behind the lineups, there might be a way to reinforce those choices ("this line features characters from just these two years"). But the current approach seems to be broad representation, with groups done in stages, so there's more variety. So instead of all three Triggerbots you'll get Backstreet now and the other two slots can go to, idk, Cybertron Ransack (who can later be a pretool for Override) and an entirely unrelated third character giving RID2015 or Armada some love.

On that front, I get it. Being on the hook for so long for a team to be completed can be annoying, especially when one or more members get the extra Store Exclusive Tax as they so often do. And there is still some of that flawed or shifting execution reducing cohesiveness (Crosshairs vs Pointblank/Sureshot, Crankcase/Windsweeper vs Rukus). Nevertheless, I think it's fair to say the consistency of doing it at all puts it well beyond "lip service".

Combiner teams have largely been contained to one line (Breakdown was in the second Legacy line, but the next three combiner teams have so far firmly been within SS86/AOTP). We got all five original Dinobots before long, an extra notable feat for all being at one of the higher price points. All three Insecticons, all four Deluxe Insecticons, all the small Decepticon Headmasters, all the Powerdashers, all the Triggercons, all the small Autobot Targetmasters, all the Rainmakers (and that's coming again), all the main six Seekers (and the first three from the new mold will be complete within a year), we're almost done with YEARS of Minibots... This is happening more frequently than not, usually within a trilogy's time (not too dissimilar to the previous Insecticons, but with more consistent design approaches). I do wish they could pull it off with more new molds (or more suitable molds) per team, but these days that's not always easy to make work.

I dunno. Hasbro seems pretty content with not updating a number of Titans Return figures, including those who weren't originally Headmasters, like the Jumpstarters and the Decepticon Targetmasters, both of which have had their TR molds reused in recent Amazon capsule lines with their Headmaster gimmicks left intact.

Titans Return was just that good. Also those characters didn't appear in TFTM, so they'd be low on the priority list for redos even if their TR toys weren't good.

Honestly, the only gripe I have with the TR Decepticon Targetmasters was tracking down Targetmaster buddies for them. The figures themselves are the perfect balance of "updated figures" with "decent toys". Similarly, I would be content with TR Blurr if they had released a decent Haywire Targetmaster to go with him.

In fact, I would be perfectly fine with buying multipacks of Targetmaster buddies in various colorways to equip most if not all of my figures.

The TR toys are good, but getting Misfire on aftermarket is ridiculous. I would love if they got new updates with their guns, even if the guns are G1 toy accurate like their Autobot counterparts currently are.
