I'm up for kranix, liege, animated ratchet, nexus, and powerglide: and unless something absolutely emotionally tied to me drops: I'm done till next year, cause I am broke.

I went in on Nemesis, despite my issues with it (mostly that it transforms into a robot that I don't care about). It's sitting in my PoL right now. Onslaught and Swindle are my most anticipated mainline releases, followed by Liege Maximo and Kranix. Beyond that, I'm looking forward to HasLab Liokaiser when it's finished baking.

I admit, I do want that Shockwave even though I was never too thrilled with the Siege mold and never got any version of it, partially for the color I actually like this time, but mostly because having it become that insane cannon just struck me as so absurdly hilarious. I don't have any other 'frame' combiners and don't plan to get any, so having the one I will get have the range of alt-modes the Combaticons bring in, plus a truly unique weapon styling (for my own shelves anyway, since I wasn't able to swing Liokaiser) seems like a nice lead in to the wrap-up I'm now doing for my own acquisitions. No doubt there will be other things I might like and get (Monstructor's potential shells if ever offered via Nonnef for example) but there's not going to be a lot anymore given mixes of age and medical stuff.

Plus it's not the first time I thought having Shockwave with a Combiner Team fit. I know CW did it with Bruticus too, I myself put the WalGreens one with the Titan Constructicons because the size and odd build style for that one seemed to match them.

I do like the way that the recently announced Shockwave looks. I would rather it be the one that I displayed in my collection, but I'm okay with Stege until they give him a proper redo.

There is an advantage with the old one. For some reason, they appear to have removed most of the accessory 5mm ports, despite adding the tabs for combiner mode, AND they removed the 'bridge' eye that helped the alt mode look more sensible. I wish they'd compensated a bit by adding an 'underslung' radar dish or something to mimic the old sight in cannon mode, if they were going to take out the big barrel extension and extra gun arms.

Of all the parts to retool, they should have done the feet. Could have boosted his height while retooling them so they don’t jut upwards awkwardly in ship mode

But ya see, they didn't do any of those things; they could have, but they didn't. Instead, they removed the greebles, changed the color, left the extra accessories alone, and yeeted him into production. So to me, this upcoming release works as an "if you missed him the first couple of times and still want him, here he is" vs. "hey, here's a new and improved Shockwave for $45."

That's what it is to me, too, and thus safe to ignore. I don't like the diseased greebling OR the shade of purple on the original, but right now not enough to basically rebuy it.

I do wish the retooling had gone to... Something in the height department instead of the weird "let's homage something that doesn't exist in the animation" direction. But since it didn't, hey, I can spending that money on something else Hasbro's hurling at me. And there's a lot.

I guess this does suggest that whatever Shockwave shows up later will be in the comparatively under detailed box man costume style. But Soundwave does okay with it, so maybe this will too, especially if it gets the toy colors.

I put in a preorder for SS Shockwave, but after playing around with my Siege version last night, I'm thinking of cancelling it as Siege is actually a really nice Shockwave. Not sure I need the SS version.

Unless you're actually interested in 'Bruticus Heavy Weapons Mode', there isn't really any advantage I see, especially with the stuff left out despite the price. I am interested AND don't have the old version, but if I did, I'd assume this is less of a lateral move and more of an actual 'features removed needlessly' situation and I'd have a harder time going for it. Maybe they're homaging G1 and the many neutered gimmicks in some of the American release toys?

On the subject of Heavy Weapons, I looked and I do have Viper and the Core Shockwave that looks like Mini-Siege, though it desperately needs some paint. I may toss those into the mix too.

I never did get me a Viper. It seemed to be a popular toy to sell as a KO, so I may have to track down one of those.

I truly believe the Siege Shockwave is the best one. I love the armor stuff, but especially as a floating eye platform. It just really fits my idea of Shockwave as the cold, emotionless mad scientist. The visual of him using the eye platform as a roving surveillance tool as well as a Green Goblin esque glider and a weapons platform just fits.

I'd like to get the new Shockwave, but it would literally just be to pair with Bruticus.

Do we have images of Shockwave’s cannon mode? All I was able to find were pics of Bruticus’s using him as a shoulder-mounted submarine.
