So I've been thinking some more about the upcoming Monstructor. He's never going to be the Monstructor I really want, but I do appreciate some of what they've done with these toys. In particular, they've done a nice job integrating features from their shells into their monster modes in ways that fit really well. I find that surprising given how wildly different their shells are from their monster modes in a lot of cases. That said, I do have some thoughts about what I'd like to see DNA do in their inevitable kit to try to improve it.
First up, an alternate head. The stock head is fine for IDW Monstructor, and really is a good fit for the character. I'd like to see a G1 head as an alternate option, even if I never end up using it. Options are good.
Likewise, I'd like to see the option to swap his limbs from the stock IDW arrangement to the G1 arrangement. If their hands are on ball joints and are swappable, the arms are set. I'm just not sure if this is feasible for the legs. It's been a while since I've handled Volcanicus. I remember that the leg connections differed by side somehow, but I can't remember how. If possible, I'd really like to be able to arrange them the way I have been for the last 37 years.
Speaking of his arms, he needs to be able to hold his gun securely. A bit random, but I'm aware that DNA Dinoking doesn't hold his stock axe/scythe well, and I've never seen any pics of him holding his rifle. That's really the only weapon we've seen Monstructor wield anywhere, so I want him to be able to hold it! So either DNA's hands need to be able to hold the gun that Hasbro includes, or they need to include their own that works with their hands.
Wings for Bristleback. This one might be tricky, but would really help him look like Bristleback instead of just a Bristleback-colored Skar.
Slog... Honestly, I'm not sure he's salvageable. He's ok in robot and combined modes, but that alt mode is just... I love how he's always been this squat, stocky chunk of robot, in both modes. This Slog is nothing like that, and doesn't offer a compelling alternative. I'd love to just see a whole new Slog, but I don't see that happening.
