Nexus looks like a missed opportunity to use Micronus's wheel bike and Amalagous parts.

Or 5mm posts/pegs for Armorizer/etc. action.

but yeah, the frame situation is not helping

(nor is the complete lack of information on his PACKAGING- the thing that should help sell the toy)

Leige Maximo looks great. Altmode made me think of Zorg's gun from The Fifth Element, but they're not that similar.

Still curious about Unicron Soldier. Strange that they'd make a no-name rando a Leader, but maaaaybe it's based on his Cybertron tank mode is and so *technically* it's not Unicron because the toy doesn't turn into a planet? My other theory is that it's a redeco/remold of some Leader as a Unicron cultist, but that seems less likely. (I'm not complaining. Most of the time with this line, we know basically what someone will look like, and it's nice to have something new.)

I think the lack of info on Nexus‘s packaging for the ‘first combiner’ and thus the confusion until Hasbro reveals all, is going to be… awkward. Which is a shame, because Nexus is the second most well known original Prime behind Vector.

Liege as a Leader works, since Titan Liege would have been a very very hard sell of a super niche villain who exists as a final page reveal at the end of G2. Plus, this does mean he can stand better with the other Primes. He just looks awesome.

Plus, his gun is now officially the ZF-1. :)

I think I wouldn't mind the many small choices I don't like about Nexus if his main gimmick didn't require having a wholly separate set of figures half combined to use. This is like if Amalgamous' features could only be used if you already spent around 200 usd on modulators.

Liege Maximo looks fantastic, at least. I'm really liking his crustaceanish ship mode, even.

Right now I hope that at some point (SDCC?) they will release a set of him with his own frame and team members, matching his colors. I will definitely not double but Superion or Menasor to give Nexus limbs.

Leige Maximo is pretty good. I hope his head has other configurations, but he looks great

Nexus Prime is embarrassing. That combined mode is just ill-concieved, and the end result looks terrible.

The disappointing thing is, Nexus has at least TWO sets of components they could’ve drawn on.

Funpub: Heatwave, Skyfall, Topspin, Landquake and Breakaway.

Or

Covenant of Primus: Mainspring, Chandrive, Clocker, Pinion and Cannonspring.

Hell, they could have even made him a Duocon torso of 2 bots.

The idea of his multipurpose combiner is good. But the execution, not so much. I mean, I get trying to fit all of the 13 Primes in the line, plus other figures and combiner and suchlike is a tough balancing act. This whole thing reminds me of Combiner Wars Galvatronus and his limb stealing. Or the single release Scattershot/Betatron thing.

So now, the only way to do an independent Nexus, would be for Hasbro to (hypothetically) sell a set of repaint/retool figures. Each with a frame piece.
