I'm glad we didn't get a T30 Metrotitan. We'll get a new Metroplex someday, and they're not going to be able to say "T30 Metrotitan is still good enough."

It never was to begin with.

probably the best thing a hypothetical new titan metroplex would have is ankle tilts lol

The new Titan class is a better fit for Metroplex and Omega Supreme (and I'd argue Trypticon, to go with Metro). I remember being tempted to sell T30 Metro and just get whatever 3P one it was at the time that was half the height and much chonkier. Never got around to that.

That one is getting a reissue next year for a discount and the lights removed. Makes me kind of regret the first run purchase since it’s a stupid battery dump.

I wouldn't mind a slightly shorter Metroplex that sits more like the original in city mode, and stands more eye-to-eye with Trypticon.

The fans: "Thrilling 30 Metroplex is too tall and lanky!"

Hasbro at the time: "That was the point!"

The fans: "We aren't impressed by height if the end result is hollow instability!"

Love how this suggests the fans having a unified view.

Shhh, it's okay, T30 Metroplex, I still love you.

Honestly. The fandom can't even agree on what it wants out of a Metroplex let alone agree on why it doesn't like the one we got 😛

I agree that Metroplex- and even Fort Max- could probably stand to be redone, but I do remember both being very well received at the time of their release.

The main thing T30 Metroplex lacks is feet. Without ankle joints, he can't really do much other than stand still or his own size takes him down. Otherwise, I don't think he's terrible, but he could most definitely benefit from a new mold.

I still like fort Max, but I'd love if he got a remake where he actually had his city mode and not "spread eagle" mode.

To be fair, it's hard to 'dynamically pose' ANYTHING above a certain size without a level of joint engineering that no one would likely want to pay for. And the trend of these 'plastic box' ratchets don't help, as they eventually quit flexing and break, even in something as small as Armada Unicron's knees. Spring ratchets can be better but only if DONE better, such as in Omega Prime's hit-or-miss hips where in many cases they weren't. And THEN you have the people who will say things are TOO HARD to move, like G1 Maximus's hips that take a lot of force at best, and made me at first afraid I was breaking something before I realized they were made solid enough to hold the legs out straight in base/ship mode. Nothing will suit everyone. I just want a toy that won't break being transformed or used in a toy collection shared between a kid who plays with them and may then throw them in a box, and a middle aged man who wants to take dumb pictures.

honestly now that i've had him in hand and messed with him, i think the people who complained about titan star convoy being too small to be a titan are fuckin wrong

like look i love my titan blackzarak, i think he is impressive as hell. but he also a goddamn chore to mess with. there's a reason why when i was living in florida, i just kept him in the box when i wasn't taking him out to take photos of him outside or why now i've had him in storage in the garage in his box for a whole ass year. because he really goddamn big and i literally do not have the space on han for him to be on display all the time and also his size just makes casually playing with him and posing him something you gotta commit to.

meanwhile star convoy fits on my shelf just fine, he doesn't feel unwieldy to mess with (jive i literally had him on my table and was just casually transforming him back and forth for a bit last night - obviously i'm not saying he works as a desk fiddle toy but he's also not so goddamn big where you couldn't do this lol)

bring on the smaller titans i say

I've been all in favor of divorcing size from price class, obviously within reason. I mean, sure I can justify spending $600 for my WfC Hot Rod, but that's partially offset by the big accessory he came with.

But mini-bots as Deluxes, Leaders that are normal bots with accessories, and now stuff like Star Convoy or a new Omega Supreme as smaller Titans? I'm all for them.

Star Convoy DOES sort of remind me of Armada Unicron in proportions. But he is still quite a bit taller, I thought?

Star Optimus is about the same height as Supreme class Cheetor with his legs fully straightened out in robot mode.

Wow. A lot closer than I thought.

And no way to tell yet, but I finally saw the turnarounds for Onslaught and it looks like his robot mode back guns fold out of the truck grill. Makes me wonder if they can be left out in truck mode for a smaller Mad Max attack truck. I'm also speculating on being able to mount Swindle's trailer-gun on top of Onslaught's base station for a giant cannon emplacement.

On that note, through points and such I was able to order in a Blast Off and Brawl at 'old' price, we'll see if that actually works. Haven't worked out Onslaught yet and I don't think Swindle has gone up. But I did get a negative for stomach and liver cancer, so the chance of me (financially very carefully) swinging a Bruticus just went up!
