Having a moron in charge of the country who has no idea how stuff works has been a useful learning experience for those of us who also don't know how stuff works. I never thought about who provides equipment for media outlets at these sorts of events because I always assumed they either each bring their own (insert stock photo of a public figure at a podium covered in different network-branded mics) or the event provides a feed for them to tap into. So I'm not sure what a press pool is or why Newsmax didn't bring their own mic.
