I've thought about just locking him in a cell and pretending to forget about him. Letting him live, albeit for a matter of mere days, with the horrifying realization that this is what happens to people who have no one to rely on, and the false hope that maybe someone will still show up with supplies before it's too late.
Alternatively, continue to provide the supplies he needs to live but make him earn it through real, manual labor. And then, when he becomes too feeble to work anymore... well, he wouldn't accept that as an excuse, would he?
