I somehow missed that building the ballroom was going to require demolishing half the building. That's crazy.
It's an old building. Sometimes if you want renovations to be done right, you gotta scrap a whole wing and start over. If anything, I think it's a shame it's usually too expensive to be worth it.

But let's face it, this is Trump we're talking about; there's no way that's what's going on here. My bet is that somebody who knows he's a sucker figured out how to upsell him on a job that's probably still going to be done as cheaply and shoddily as possible and the whole thing's gonna collapse in ten years.

wonko the sane?

I honestly doubt it'll be finished. Trump isn't exactly known for hiring the finest people, or paying his bills. It would have taken yonks to get done anyway.

He'll leave it as a shoddy, half-complete mess, and then the Republicans will somehow make it the Democrats' fault again.

So what happens if the House Republicans simply decide to never come back? I don't know the logistics of it, but it almost seems like this could be a backdoor way to effectively eliminate the legislative branch of our government.

Why would people motivated entirely by money and power cede the money and power to someone else?

It would have to be one where they aren't accountable, but still getting paid. Or better than that even: cause that's what they have right now.

Doug ford wasted canadian coin on a 75 million dollar ad broadcast in america states and red districts. Specifically an ad calling tariffs a bad idea.

Trump was already looking for an excuse to bail, since he doesn't want to negotiate, he wants to own: and we will never let him. Ford was probably dumb enough that he wasn't aware this was going to trigger trump, so I suspect poilievre told ford to do it so that poilievre had something to drag carney over. Cause I already know the soundbyte from poilievre on the news tonight will be him spouting that carney failed the negotiations.

And he's gonna keep doing it, until someone strikes back. Then he'll be on the news screaming about an "unprovoked attack" and use it to justify a war.

And we still won't see the Epstein files.

I really gotta point something out here

I really, really, really gotta point something out here.
This “ballroom” Trump says he’s building is 90,000 square feet, and is going to cost THREE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS.
Apparently. That’s what he says.
This is bullcrap. He’s pocketing AT LEAST half of that money. Probably two-thirds, maybe 70%. I daresay probably 70%. Or who knows, all of it – but let’s say he’s actually going to build something and some part of the extorted “donations” will actually be spent doing so. It’s still bullcrap, and he’s still pocketing most of the money.
How do I know this?
Because $300 million for 90,000 square feet is over $3330/square foot in construction cost. That’s absolutely insane by any standard. The highest-end commercial construction in the US is under $1000/square foot. You’re telling me he’s going to spend over three times that?
I don’t ******* think so. It’s bullcrap, and he’s keeping most of the money.
But if that’s not enough for you, consider this:
The most expensive commercial building EVER BUILT IN THE WORLD (according to Wikipedia’s list of most expensive buildings) is One Financial Centre in Hong Kong, which is, slightly ironically, two massive skyscrapers. It’s a combined two million square feet of floor space, mostly vertical, which adds buttloads of cost. It is opulent as hug and serves extremely high-end customers in an extremely wealthy city.
Excluding land costs (because Trump has the land already), 1FC cost right around $3315/square foot to build.
Which is to say, slightly LESS than his ******* “ballroom.”
His ballroom will cost MORE per square foot than the most expensive luxury commercial construction project ever built.
Which is, again, bullcrap.
He’s pocketing that money, and nobody should think for a moment otherwise.

If people are really donating money so he can build a luxury ballroom for himself, it's a scam no matter how little of it he's pocketing.
