It's slacktivism, and you know it. If these people really cared, they would have went to the ballot box in November. I've done my part, voting for Clinton, Biden, and Harris.

I guess those ***** Hat protests in his first term solved all the problems that women face, and everyone lived happily ever after. Sure is nice to have reproductive freedom protected by the Constitution. And the BLM protests solved racism.

Oh, wait.

Which is why people should have taken action in a way that could actually affect change last year. These people just want to make funny signs, and feel like they're part of something.

Protesting absolutely has its place, but most of this is just performative. It's the real world equivalent of posting a meme on social media.

I don't live in the past. The same people Spotti wants to write off are the same people who we're gonna need in the midterms. So they made a regrettable vote that they now regret, as shown by how underwater Trump is in every poll. So let's wipe out the House GOP in the midterms and set ourselves up to win in 2028.

Why do you assume the people at the protests are the ones who didn't vote?

Just a numbers game, really. Turnout was not as high as 2020, and everybody knew the danger and chaos that was in store from his first term. So there's no way that everyone who protested today voted against letting that happen again.

I know that we'll need them, there's no question about that. But how many of them will actually vote next year, or in 2028? The American people were the only ones who could have stopped this, but they didn't. They chose apathy, and everyone has to suffer because of that.

And don't get me wrong, I'm happy and impressed that people showed up today. But it's too little, far too late.

Honestly, as someone from outside the US, it’s good that so many people turned out to protest, even if (and I agree) such protests can change almost nothing materially at this point. The optics of seeing footage of the US population resisting rather than lying down and acquiescing, I can’t exaggerate how hopeful that seems to the wider world as America rapidly spirals into becoming a dictatorship.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Do you know what the difference between project 2025 and regular republican cruelty is?

Republicans are finally working for themselves and not their corporate masters. That's it.

On a semi related note: the guy who created the republican concept of authoritarian technocracy, curtis yarvin... he plans to flee the US cause he's convinced trump is ******* it up. Not the country: his plan. He's going to bail cause trump is ******* up his plan so bad he's convinced it will fail.
