LITERALLY what I said is going to happen in my other post. The GOP is going to get sundered after this election, and become unelectable because the cult and the rest will be fighting over the name.

People said the same thing about the Tea Party movement years ago. Brand loyalty is trained into Americans from a young age, and First Past The Post is an extremely strong effect on top of that - the Dems should realisticly be 2-3 different parties, but only hang together because of FPTP making it the only way to get things done. The Republican party may just end up in a similar situation with Trumpists and traditional Conservatives only tolerating each other long enough for elections and specific things they can agree on.
