Takara tends to put out a definitive, premium deco for molds about to become obsolete in the DCS series. With the rumors of a Leader 2007 Optimus, could there be a new Jetfire on the horizon? And another team of G1 Dinobots? Maybe a Ratchet/Ironhide?

Maybe the new Optimus could still be backwards-compatible with Jetfire?

No. I want a new Jetfire, and I want them to at least try to get the combination right.

I don't believe they even tried last time. I am completely convinced that their primary reference was a stock picture of the 09 Leader combo. Not even concept art.

I think they just ran out of budget. Right around the time they decided that sticking a peg on Jetfire’s head makes it a gun. Maybe new Jetfire can be Commander class even.

People like calling that one repaint of DOTM Bumblebee as "Murderbee." I personally like to think of him as Flavortown Bee.

Over on ATT-on-Reddit, I put up some irreverent musings on just how it is that we shall know his name is Megatron, because it is in the Covenant.

The short version, for your consideration here:

After the events of "War Dawn", in which dumping the Aerialbots in the past only ended up ensuring Optimus Prime's existence, Sunbow-Shockwave (who is more loyal to his Megatron than his Marvel or IDW-2005 counterparts) took it upon himself to, you guessed it, go back in time and discreetly ensure that there was a name in the Covenant for said leader to take as his own. Nothing more, as he had no point to prove about the existence or meaning of the Thirteen (and I do have an earlier post there about whether the Thirteen were a thing in Sunbow continuity -- to which I say, some definitely were, some would explain a lot, and some may be invented or composite figures created by A3 to cement a cultural mythology).

The Onyx Prime fursuit was just to cover his tracks lest Brainstorm interfere. ;)

Given "Wasteoid Gamma" was named such on the model sheet, is it reasonable to assume that "Wasteoids" was (at least at one point) a working name for "Junkions"?

So, here's a real question:
What collecting priorities do you have that are contradictory?
For me, I've always* had a love of Targetmasters and similar figures (like, say, Minicons) that turn into weapons and stuff for larger figures. I really have appreciated the return of those types of figures in recent years.
But, sometime between Cybertron and RiD15, the focus of my collection shifted to smaller figures in the Legend/Legion/Core range. They're smaller, and scale better with my Gobots and various playsets. But, that size doesn't lend itself well to tiny buddy dudes (even in the 3P offerings, I'm not aware of Core-scale Targetmasters). So, I'm stuck collecting 2 scales, one small to scale with Gobots, one larger to allow for Targetmasters.

What are some collecting priorities or "rules" you have that are at odds with each other?

*well, since 1987, although the minicassettes kinda fit the same quandary.

I had a sudden and unexpected question today thanks to the DNA 78a Upgrade for SS86 Megatron, the gun that was used on Optimus during the film, it laying under some rubble, but my question is, whose gun was it to start with? There's no bodies laying nearby or indications to who owned it, so whose gun was it?

Sort of contradictory . . . I have a little bit of customizing that I want to do - a handful of specific characters/specific figures, but I don't really plan to turn that into another big long-term hobby - however, now that I've done just a little bit of it, I keep looking at new figures thinking "oh, I could repaint this one into __________."

Also, I try to get new TFs that "fit in" somewhere with what I already have. But I picked up Gamer Ironhide, and now he's a bit of an outlier on my shelves, because I didn't grab any gamer editions or Bumblebee Movie characters.

Always wondered this, and the energy sword.
