Disco may be dead but that never stopped Optimus Prime anyway.

He doesn't stay alive, though. He dies, and then John Hasbro reanimates him because parents complained that their kids were sad that their robot dad died.

I don't have a real preference on Devastator's armbot treads being on the shoulders vs part of the chest, but seeing how C/UW and SS86 turned out, maybe shoulders really is the way to go. Maybe somebody can come up with a Devastator that keeps them on the chest but doesn't end up with a barrel chest and stick arms, since admittedly, 86 is largely a copy-paste

The chest approach could be done, but it requires rethinking Hook's transformation so the chest doesn't have to be so wide. Just move the crane to his back or something. Toon Devastator's details are blobby enough that the exact placement doesn't really matter.

Mecha Invasion unofficial Devastator does something like that. Hook instead of folding in half at the midsection, leading to a chest that's twice as wide as his vehicle mode, has Hook's upper body/ the crane rear half stay more or less the same while the legs fold and wrap around it, leading to a chest maybe 1.5 times the width of his vehicle mode. The crane arm does indeed end up on the back.

In any universe where Transformers and GI Joe coexist, how often do you think the Autobots investigate something only to discover it's Cobra and not the Decepticons? Or the same but it's GI JOE discovering a Decepticon plot?

How often do you think their evil plans interfere with each other? "We're going to build a solar array and suck this planet dry of energy!" "We're going to build a weather device and block out the sun until the world surrenders!"

Kinda like expecting Speedball and maybe Justice, but ending up with half of the Avengers?

And then the heroic team is just like "Oh, sorry, we thought you were someone else. We'll just be going now."

"Oh yeah, it happens."

That sounds like something that would be done in a parody.

Legends God Ginrai is so incredibly terrible. Like, I know he's terrible. I've had him for years, and I hate it every time I try to handle him. And yet, somehow, every single time I handle him, I come to the realization that he's just so much worse than I remembered. That's an incredibly impressive level of horrible.

He can look decent enough with enough work, but that's all he has going for him. I feel like transforming or posing him is a race to see if I can find a stable, good-looking pose before the rage from having to handle him reaches the point where I want to throw him against a wall. The Perfect Combiner regular transforming-cab Ginrai I bought for him is EASILY the best part of the entire package.

Having just handled him again after rearranging my display case, I think he/PMOP w/ Apex Armor has just jumped straight to the top of my list of bots that really need an update. I have other bots I like a lot more and would love to see get new versions, but having such a major character/toy being represented in such a horrendous way is just pissing me off right now. And yes, I know there's a Masterpiece version, but we shouldn't have to resort to Masterpiece to get something halfway decent. If the MP even is decent, as I haven't really looked into it at all besides not really liking the look of it.

I'd be shocked if he wasn't on the HasLab radar at this point.

I think the slim ginrai design is appropriate if you plan to pile more crap on top with God Bomber. If it’s just gonna be robot+trailer, then yeah, chonk all the way.

i bought Legends super Ginrai when it first released. After seeing the clusterhug that is his feet, I noped out and sold it in a couple weeks. No way anything that had to do with that design was ever gonna be good.

I found a decent deal on the LG-EX box set recently, and definitely saw all the things people complained about with Godbomber. Even Super Ginrai is creaky and a tad on the rickety side. These rereleases do seem to hold together as well and stand as stably as the reviews indicate (i.e., better than the individual releases, i.e., they do at all), but not enough to evoke confidence in handling. Definitely a piece to just put together and display and leave alone and maybe wait for the eventual collapse. Price wise I still tell myself it wasn't a bad deal, but I can't escape that these just have not aged amazingly.

I never had super high hopes for it, tbh, considering even as PMOP it was spun off of an entirely different design with an entirely different mission statement. And Super Ginrai's weirdo hoofish feet situation just made that worse, and the way Godbomber's elevator boots latched on didn't really improve matters much either. But Godbomber was like a successfully completed checklist of terrible ways to execute the idea. Panels, hard to reach shallow/short pegs, a confusing origami configuration to end up as a backpack, scary thin clips... So much of it seems at once too basic and too unnecessary complicated. Which is especially weird because he's the most obvious thing ever, a giant Weaponizer guy.

Something designed from the ground up dedicated to this would be great. But I'm more of a PMOP guy, so I want da chonk. I'm very curious about the MP (or, more accurately, the KO of the MP), because even if the look is off I kind of want another try at the design with greater stability. But even the KO is up there in price, and I'm not dropping that amount right now on something that also has an off look.

I'm waffling on whether or not to sell the set (and just keep the Headmasters), since it's very likely that a redo is something the team would be happy to do. But my budget situation means my options are "regular retail or weeping and pawing at the screen while others enjoy their HasLabs", so I'm apprehensive about what direction they may take on that. Especially since regular retail is ALSO getting unwieldy.

Well, that's just a trait of the CW Ultra Magnus mold in and of itself. Every version of that mold is built like that.
