Thread of Thoughts, Questions (and Maybe Even Answers) That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread

I'm not certain about that. Outside of "two sides" nothing in G1 really seems overly Cold War-ish.
I thought Megatron's name literally came from the whole nuclear scare (plus an "r")?

I think it was just "Megaton" but sci-fi'd up with "tron" (which was released two years previously).
"Megaton" was probably floating in the lexicon because of the nuclear scare thing, but like... I wouldn't say the Cold War stuff really comes through in G1? Arguably the themes G1 did have didn't even come through half the time anyway.

I’m concerned that because of the need to make blast effects compatible guns and the box art being very accurate to their contents, in the future all TF projectile weapons will end up having the tiny nubs at the tips.

Yeah, which is why it almost got vetoed as being too scary to kids. Until Bob pointed out that it was supposed to sound scary to kids he was the Main Bad Guy.

-ZacWilliam, not that I thought any of their names were scary as an 80s kid. Yeah when you heard a plane overhead you waited for a minute to see if you were about to be nuked but you weren't scared of nuclear related words.

And then he was almost renamed "Negator" at one point during the CBS pitch phase, with his altmode reimagined as an orbital satellite laser cannon.

I don't know why media executives were such absolute pansies back then but I'm grateful for the artists who stood up to the madness.

We say that now, but the 80s was also the age when PG movies were basically what PG-13 movies are today. It is wild to think that Raiders of the Lost Ark and Frozen have the same rating.

(Yes, yes, I know that's largely because PG-13 didn't exist yet, but still)

Well yeah. Parental Guidance meant be a parent and exercise some guidance. The rating itself wasn't the guidance. You were supposed to check the movie, not just check the rating. But people wanted to just check the rating, so here we are. And then parents proceeded to bring their toddlers to PG-13 movies anyway, so it was all pointless.

I would argue that G is a more mysterious thing than PG ever was.

I don't know if this deserves any more than being a mention in this thread on the forums, but if you think it warrants it, go off.

At first I was horrified but the more I read about this company the funnier it gets. If this were a satire of scams it would be panned as too unbelievable.

Then again, if someone has that much money to blow and not have it affect them at all, financially, then they're likely too rich to even care either way.

For the super wealthy, sure. I'm not sure that's the only market that buys (nominally) high end collector statues, however.
Well, there's a word for people who aren't rich enough to buy these without it affecting them, financially, and yet still do so anyway: Fools.

I hate it on principle of well, everything, except for the mostly red Optimus with blue flames (and forehead crest) we can keep that, everything else can be thrown in a dumpster and burned.

Oh, believe you me, the wiki is already on board with breaking down just how awful this AI slop is and that Hasbro basically got played by a scam company.

Oh, neat! I should have thought to look for that.

Gonna make a quick update here...

Anyway, if you ever wanted to get an official license to make your own Transformers stuff, now we know that the bar is literally on the ground, rolling in the dirt.

Heck, maybe some third parties will even go for it! Why not, at this point?
