Got these things in a while back.

Matrix workshop WFC Megatron mace. Came in disassembled with the purple parts on a sprue but it’s simple enough to put together. The purple parts are clear which is a nice choice. Print lines are visible sometimes but generally aren’t super obvious. Initially painted a very shiny silver but i opted to paint over with gunmetal. Comes with a handle extension for a two handed grip but i don’t find much use for it. That piece shows the original silver color. A bit loose in Megatron’s hand but that’s probably just due to the articulated hand design. Other 5mm fist guys hold it fine.

Matrix Workshop set of guns ostensibly for Cliffjumper. I don’t have a G1 cliffjumper but they look like decent enough generic guns. Fit is okay. Print lines not very visible since the very dark black kind of swallows it all up. I like the assault rifle more than the long gun and the generic autobot pistol. Have some tabs and ports on them that I assume are for ER Cliffjumper.

Dr. Wu Alpha Trion sword inspired by TR. unlike the others it’s injection molded plastic. God detail and tolerances. It’s a huge sword though and the crossguard design makes it difficult to get a good grip. AOTP Aloha Trion is smaller than the TR version but this is still stupidly oversized. Fortunately, it’s lighter than it looks and Trion’s joints have no problem supporting it. Purple doesn’t match unfortunately but can’t reasonably expect it to.

DNA desgins have revealed their upgrade kit for AOP Star Convoy/Optimus prime

This kit looks WAY better than anything they produced for Devestator, everything I seen for Devestator just looks lame and not really inspired, its pretty much just adding more and more mass instead of tackling the blunders that Hasbro made in the begining!

Personally I just wanted another trailer to keep in his other leg

They didn’t even plug up the weird slots on Hot rod’s spoiler

I don't like it. Bigger cannons on a Battlestars design sounds like a good idea but I don't think it works. This toy is designed to look big. It's a perspective thing. The stock cannons look small because they're in the fricking sky. Put this thing on your tallest shelf and you'll see it.

There have been like a dozen kits or whatever, and not one has bothered to do this. It's as weird as Hasbro putting them there to begin with. Gap-filling is, like, the lowest hanging fruit. But I guess Nobody Likes Hot Rod, what else is new.

It might be that people see it as such low-hanging fruit that everyone assumed that it'd be covered by 3D prints and it wasn't worth bumping the price of their own kit to add those pieces?

Nah, this is DNA design. Their business model is adding random crap to their kits to excuse bringing prices up.

It's technically accurate to the Skybound comics but eh. At least it's a separate kit from the useful stuff. It can unfold into a turret similar to G1 Megatron's stock but I can't be bothered to look the photo up again.

The main set has the usual fillers which I wouldn't buy by themselves but aren't unwelcome. New shoulder pieces level out the turret and slightly beef up robot mode. They also look like they can stay on for transformation making them a great addition. The new cannon still looks dumb in tank mode but I think if the turret were oriented farther back to begin with, it'd be better and is an improvement in robot mode. I like the new faces but it looks like they just replace the stock Megatron face part which necessitates unscrewing every time you want to switch. The mouths having teeth are also a turnoff. Buttplate would be a decent add-on but partsforming means that I'll leave it in the box. Clear lightsaber and mace are good additions too. No real need for the Key or Megatron's clone helmet as far as I'm concerned but eh, might be worth a laugh. Could use it to make Megatron look like he's streaming on Twitch or something.

They're also selling the cannon with the sword with a pink energy blade but eh, I think the main set is worth buying over just the weapons.

They got me for the weapons only kit. I wouldn't mind having the shoulder adders, but don't need them enough to get the rest of the kit. The Drone Weaponizer Pack energon mace works pretty well with SS Megatron, so that eliminates a need for what would otherwise be the most tempting part of the kit for me.
