The first trailer for Edgar Wright and Glen Powell's new adaption of Stephen King's (yes, THAT Stephen King) cult classic The Running Man has dropped:

I was a fan of the original novel, with its gritty thriller angle. And with the rise of reality TV and social media...the novel has revealed a surprisingly accurate dystopian depiction of where we are seemingly heading (despite being written back in 1982). Seems here they are REALLY trying to blend the novel's core elements while infusing some of the flair the Schwarzenegger version imbued.
Perhaps even maintaining the shocker of an ending...

First I've heard of this. I loved the movie and the book, but both are so different from each other. I love the bombast and the character of the movie. It feels like a more accurate idea of the future that we're heading to. At the same time, the book is as bleak as any King novel, but very grounded as well. I do wonder from some of those trailer scenes whether we're going to get the book ending in this movie. (those who know, know)

This looks like it may be a really interesting blending of the two. I'll be watching this.

Not watching the trailer. Only watched the Schwarzenegger movie. Did the novel have the novel have the over the top boss characters Sub-Zero, battery guy, chainsaw dude? I kinda hope the new movie has them, haha

The book did not. It was a lot darker, more dystopian, with a lot less over the top characters.
I'd love for characters like that to be in the movie as they added some flair to the darkness of the setting.
