GMK is not my favorite Godzilla, but that looks sweet! I forgot about the Hello Kitty promos from that era, and only remembered the Hamtaro ones.

Didn't realize this was an 8-week promotion. Already picked up Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan:

My wife (who is awesome)(also, not reading over my shoulder, I swear!) may not understand my hobbies, but when something like this happens, she is amazing at finding and getting what I want. 2 McDonalds on the way back from Ohio to Iowa got this collection started (and 2x, because Haywire3 is his father's son!), and I'm pretty sure we'll have the whole set before too long (as long as there's no distribution hiccups).

Apparently, there's a strong need for Godzilla crossover figures this year? Anyway, wave 2 of the TMNTxGodzilla is out at Target. Still waiting on wave 2 of MMPR Kaiju Rangers. The wife got Hello Kitty/Godzilla #4, Gigan, tonight at McDs. And Bandai just released a new Ultra Kaiju Series Jirass this year, which technically isn't a crossover figure, but might as well be.
Kind of makes me wish I'd sprung for the Grimlock as Godzilla figure, just to add to the crossover mix.

I... Can not tell who the Blue Ranger is. The Red one is Rodan, which... Huhn. I'd expect Red to be Godzilla, but I guess that's the Tommy Oliver Green Ranger.

Having Mikey be King Ghidorah is kinda odd. He's the only brother that's got a monster that's usually a baddy. I'd expect that of Raph, though Rodan is also less heroic than average for that group. Mothra feels like she'd be a better fit for Mikey, but I guess that didn't want to merge a male and female character. Angirus would be a better fit for that line-up, but I guess that he wasn't quite a big enough name.

Making Shredder into Mechagodzilla is a decent idea, but makes him look more like a turtle, at least while in box. Character-wise, I'd expect him to be merged with King Ghidorah.

I don't think that the toyline has an actual storyline, but I'd be disappointed if Mikey didn't have a sub-plot about dealing with Ghidorah's consciousness.

It has it's own 5-issue miniseries, in fact!

And, well, spoilers, but...

No. Mikey doesn't really have any problems being fused with Ghidorah's DNA via the "Kaijutagen". But, that's partially thanks to April having a special connection to Mothra, which helps the boys stabilize the process. But, it is just the kaiju's DNA, not their minds.

It's a solid crossover. It's a fun time. It's probably worth tracking down a trade collection.

Billy's Anguirus.

This also has a 5 issue miniseries! But, the artwork is...not great, in my opinion. You might want to flip through it and judge for yourself, if you're interested in picking it up. Just remember, there's actually TWO sets of crossovers, and those Rangers only show up in the second miniseries.

The set is complete! Keeping mine in the boxes for now, Haywire3's set is loose, I'll try to get pics of Sanrio Kaiju Unleashed later.

New Minus Zero trailer has dropped. I think we know who the new kaiju is...
Monster Zero in Minus Zero does have a certain symmetry to it...

Got all eight now, and I noticed that they're for ages 3 and up, with a recommendation you ask for an Under-3 toy if needed.

(blink)

How do you get more Under-3 than these already are? A plush Hedorah?

Anyway, the Kuromi/MechaGodzilla is way too light and non-metallic, so I got a spare of that one too:

I also got a spare Badtz Maru/Rodan because it's really very orange and I want to repaint one in proper Rodan colors.

ETA: Looking at the details, I can say with confidence that Badtz Maru is dressed as the 1993 Fire Rodan, not the Showa version. And the bright orange does suggest the Fire Rodan version rather than the version that first showed up in the 1993 movie.

So Hello Kitty x Godzilla is winding down at McDonalds, but my wife (did I mention she's awesome?) had one last surprise for me:

Apparently, if you ask nicely (and no employees have already claimed them), some McD's managers will give you the advertising stuff when it's time to change it out. She got me one of the window posters! It even came with the suction cups (though I'll never use those...).

I forgot to ask about this at a store before the promotion ended, and now I'm wondering if the under-3 toy was also HKxG?

So, this is a thing. Apparently, there has been a vote going on to pick Godzilla's next opponent for the G-fes short films. The slate of kaiju is...interesting, to say the least:

Gigasecto looks like Megalon's buff cousin

Candyroy seems like would be a better Ultra kaiju for a lighter episode

Gilx, on the other hand, looks more like the kind of Ultra fusion kaiju that would be the Big Bad at the end of a series.

Sagius kinda looks like a Mecha-Iris

Xenolhu looks like a glowed-up Spectreman or Giant Robo baddie

Madomuh is basically a kaiju Cthulhu

Minacius looks like Pokemon Arceus

Rigedoh is giving me Baragon and Gomora vibes.

It's an interesting slate of kaiju, at the very least, but these fan vote things always seem to have a way of going...funny? What do you all think? Which kaiju are you rooting for?

Hmm...from my least favorite to most:

Candyroy: I do like the concept, here. A candy wrapper come to life. That's maybe the most creative concept in this list. The problem is, I just don't care for this design. If this was one form of many, like Hedorah, I'd probably like it better. But, assuming we only get one form and one suit, this ain't it. Personally, I'd kind of like to see a more colorful and in-your-face take on this concept in the future. Really play into the idea of living candy.

Sagius: This is just a bulkier version of Mecha Godzilla. And I love Mecha Godzilla. But, this just feels a little too big and awkward for my liking. It looks like a rejected concept from the Planet of the Monsters trilogy.

Gilx: This sounds like a amped up version of Space Godzilla. And the description makes it sound like one of the most powerful monsters ever, able to destroy planets. Which SOUNDS like it'd make for a interesting fight. Although, I don't know how any "normal" version of Godzilla would stand a chance against it. But, design-wise, it just feels a little generic, to me. I feel like it needs...a little something more to make it more memorable, design-wise.

Minacius: This is another one where I REALLY like the concept, but not so much the actual design. A giant robot "kirin" from a ancient civilization is a REALLY cool concept for a new kaiju. But, this design just doesn't do it for me. The face is a little too "ugly" in a bad way, and I don't care for the "magnet hooves". I really wish they would have leaned more into a "ancient statue" aesthetic.

Rigedoh: I like the look of this thing. The glowing horns has the potential to look cool in live action. I could take or leave the gigantic arms. It kind of looks like a original kaiju from a video game, or something. But, it just isn't that interesting story-wise.

Gigasecto: You know what, I have to appreciate them trying to add another bug kaiju. And this one looks good. I like the big horns and the reddish hue. The problem is...it's just a big bug. It's not very interesting, story wise.

Madomuh: This is Cthulhu. You just stole Cthulhu and turned him into a kaiju. And while Godzilla fighting Cthulhu WOULD be really cool to watch...I can't reward such blatant theft.

Xenolhu: My personal favorite, and the one I voted for. It still feels pretty Cthulhu-inspired, but I think this one seems more original. I like the pop of color with the underside being purple. And the head looks suitably sinister for a Godzilla villain. Plus, some of it's powers seem pretty unique. Like being able to warp reality around it, and being able to hypnotize it's opponents to some capacity.
