If there was ever proof that Tony Khan needs a better filter on his ideas, last night proves it. AEW is introducing yet another (yes, ANOTHER) singles title, this time National Title (which, I guess, can be defended everywhere, unlike such belts as the International Title), spouting some gobbledygook about it's lineage. Meanwhile, the real National Title, which has legit lineage, is owned by NWA and currently held by Mike Mondo.

I guess Tony is just a big Oprah fan. "You get a belt, and you get a belt, and you get a belt! Everybody gets a belt!"

IIRC, the one that has the lineage he was referring to was unified into the WCW United States Championship, which is now property of WWE.

Really? For what?

Most of what I've seen amounts to a resounding "meh".
The ending of the men's war games match. Having a random masked man (Presumed to be Austin Theory) come in kick Punk and do the stomp and leave him there for Breaker to finish. It's a pretty lame ending. The only way that it would have been a good ending is if the masked man revealed himself and it was MJF.

I'll laugh so hard if they say it was Seth Rollins.

But anyway, yeah, haven't seen people so much upset as underwhelmed.

Kinda like the "epic" Raw following.

Breaker's promo was good. He mixed in a little reality and truth into it so he could get you believing the rest of it. I really hope that they realize what they have with him and stop trying to wedge him into the heel role that he doesn't need to be in.

Sadly we have to report that we have lost the legendary dog of wresting, Larry. Larry passed away and supposedly that is why Punk was absent from RAW this week.

I liked it. Not every reveal needs to be something epic. Everyone that would apply is under long term contracts. It's fun.

Something important to remember is that while we may know the Masked Man is Austin Theory right now when the reveal happens it could be anyone. Again, I like that.

I don't know what to tell you. The HHH era has been so much better than latter day Vince. If you're not having fun it might just be time to stop watching.

I am just tired of all the Heels winning every episode of RAW and Smackdown. It gets boring and predictable. I am also tired of seeing Gunther get pushed. Like I don't see what is so special about this guy. The only thing about him that I like is that he cracks up too much in promos.

So wow. SNME has come and gone, and with it, the last ever John Cena match.

WTF?

I don't know if this will be enough to put me off of WWE, but man, it sure did sour it. Even aside from the ending, the match was just lacking. I think that the 6th clothesline in a row is where I lost faith in the match. Gunther no selling an AA and going immediately into Sleeper Hold number (15? ) didn't help. You know, Cornette had once criticized Kevin Nash on only doing 5 moves, but this match just exposed Gunther for the same things. (Power bomb, Suplex, Chop, clothesline, Sleeper hold). Man, you can see the moment on Cena's face that he knows that this is a mistake. Then the whole crowd immediately let them know how they felt. The booing was the worst that I have seen since the WCW days. Gunther had to be escorted out by extra security with fans throwing things at him.

Right after the match, it seemed that everyone in Gorilla position came out to send Cena out, and HHH, escorting Stephanie, got booed out of the building. Like worse than Hogan when he came out on the first Raw on Netflix. They had to have Cody and Punk hand the belts to Cena to raise up in order to get the booing to stop. HHH then gets up on the apron, and they Boo him again. So they cut out the live audio and do a picture in picture of Live Cena with yet another promo video of Cena.

At least we got a good match out of Cody, and the Miz vs Joe Hendry was a great segment.

MJF is under a long term contract to AEW. Jericho is a possibility for the final reveal. Hendry would make no sense, he's majorly over as a face.

Dunno what to tell you about Gunther. I've followed him since he was Walter. The man is money. He's a throwback heel to the 70's to early 80's. Methodical pace is the point, as is the moveset. I can't wait to see CM Punk vs Gunther.

I will say I did like the actual smile and tap-out ending of the match. Cena didn't need to fight anymore. He knew this was the end and was at peace with it.

HHH is laughing at the reaction and saying that he thought they would boo louder. I don't think that he understands that they aren't booing the heel, they are booing the writing and poor quality.
Reminds me of Bischoff dismissing criticisms re: WCW's booking in 1998.

I just don't see it.
I mean I DID at one point. In a WWE landscape where no one was allowed to be too dominant Walter/Gunther stood out.
But the problem is it's been years. His character hasn't evolved, and there's too much tv these days to stay that static for this long.

Everything he does boils down to "I say I'm the best for four weeks and then I win convincingly."
It's just dull. I want to see something new.

There's also the fact that his act leans too heavily into fascist imagery for my tastes.
