I preordered a Grimlock from Pulse. May come to my senses later and cancel. Hard to say.
I am so tempted by this,,,,,
The real puzzler to me (not the Gobots one), is that MPG-20 Hot Rod thing. I mean, it looks cool and all, but I'm just not sure that paint and extra materials warrant a $125 version of it.
It's weird that there's only one release.

Bumblebee and Cliffjumper are separate molds. They each got a cartoon-accurate redeco after their initial toy-accurate releases.
Ultra Magnus was also first announced and unveiled on its own. Delta Magnus was first announced much later.
and Bumble and Cliff both got anime deco versions also.
Seeing as how the Dinobots G1 originals were lost molds, I would guess the ML dinos will get re-used more down the road?

Joking aside, there's really not a bad G2 deco on Grimlock. Any of them are pretty visually interesting.
I'd prefer blue, since that's the one I had as a kid. But I'd consider the others, too.

I'm tempted by Grimlock. If they had come out and said they'll definitely be doing all five Dinobots over the next X years, I think I'd have a hard time passing them up. But Grimlock isn't even my favorite Dinobot. I'm passing for now.
It's the same situation with Ultra Magnus. We have ML Arcee, and I could definitely see Rodimus and/or Hot Rod getting done. If there were any indication they're planning to do the whole TFTM group, I'd definitely be getting him. But barring that, as much as I'd love to get this one, I really don't need another Ultra Magnus.

I feel like some of the G2 colors would be the natural next step, if Takara wants to get some more mileage out of Grimlock. On a related note, if (when??) they get around to doing Sideswipe, I feel like his G2 deco would be a no-brainer, and a surefire way to separate me from some of my money 
I'd go with teal since blue got coverage in AotP. I know, I know, different companies but still. I'm talking big picture.
See, this is kind of how I feel, and it's one of the reasons why I haven't thrown down on Magnus. I really like him, but I have multiple versions of his G1 toy, and the SS86 is a thing of beauty (I also held on to the MP version, so there's that).
I am mildly interested in the Diaclone version (which is the one that I would lean towards, because I continue to collect some of the Diaclone Reboot stuff). But my general rule is that I need to have more than "mild interest" to warrant spending over $200 on a given toy.

Why wouldn't they? Milk those sales, dawg.They really are doing the silver sword with the toy version and the red sword with the anime version...
It is really messing with my mind how good that anime version looks. Mainly because this line is so clearly meant to be a toy thing that it doesn't seem fair to expect it to also wear the show colors, but then you realize that nope, they were always going to look great.
