So he clearly has knees but I still can't tell if he can bend his legs upwards at the hips (as opposed to just out sideways). Looks like there's a split there (so he can split his legs sideways at an angle) but it seems like the ridge on that hip joint wouldn't allow forward movement. That one pic with his knee bent sorta looks like there's some forward movement but it might just be a trick of the angle. Also makes it look like the legs of the inner robot would need to bend forwards at the knee which I'm not sure it can do (not sure if ML Optimus can, or if it's modified from that).

Just curious since adding knees alone would be of limited use without also being able to bend the legs forward at the hips.
There's one additional picture available on TFW's update that appears to answer this better:

The blue side panel on his left leg can't get into that position without bending his leg forward at the hip.

Hold up.

What have they done to the gauntlets? They've left more of the white forearms exposed. Why? Maybe it's to allow more clearance so the fists don't need to be detachable, but was there no better way to accomplish that?

It's so pretty. They always are.

But that price tag means I'll have to content myself with the AOTP 4-pack Magnus cab for the foreseeable future.

I want this, but I'll probably never own one.

Still, between the undocumented extra modes in the US release and Powered Buggy just really tying everything together for this to feel like a beefed-up Optimus Prime successor, this is hitting all the right "missed out on this in my childhood, despite owning the damn thing" notes.

I think right now, he's my most wanted of the ML line! Along with Arcee. And maybe Cliffjumper.

As much as I actually do really like this Ultra Magnus, something about the proportions (big head, relatively short, stocky legs) and the hollow eyes give the robot mode an almost Ben Cooper Halloween Costume look.

Well, let's compare then, shall we?

Aside: I had Metroplex.

Not that I've heard. I'd assume it's just a reference to the old commercial. Carrying and launching Silverbolt was something he was specifically shown to be able to do.

And the box, too!

Does the cab include new engineering in the legs to allow the feet to swing back in super mode? The picture on the right makes sense, but I don't know what's going with the left's big white panel. Edit: the picture on the left is just bad photoshopping: it looks like a big white panel but it's just the background not being cut out.

I mean, it's not like G1 Magnus wasn't missing the entire back of his "suit," but this new version has the extra disadvantage of making visible all the crazy jointing necessary to make the magic work.
