I don't think there was much to worry about with Ironhide and Ratchet. Their G1 toys were always super weird and therefore outliers.
At first I was just salty about missing out on two cool cassettes (I wish Dr. Wu would just make these for the WFC/SS molds already). But damn.
I'm not really a G1 guy or a Soundwave guy in particular, but those are both gorgeous. For some stunners like Grimlock and this guy, this line is stirring up appeal and interest that has never been there to this extent. If these weren't so consistently, definitively priced out of my range, I'd be all in (debt).

I'm grabbing the cartoon deco version. Between the fact that I have at least 2 G1 Soundwave reissues in great condition, and that Cybertronian Laserbeak, the decision was easy. Plus with the lamp post mode being a thing, toon deco really makes sense.

The Autoscout has also been released a few times via 3P companies so it might be easier or cheaper to track down?

Odd thing, on Pulse the Cartoon version of ML Soundwave is 165 but the Toy deco is $200? BBTS has a similar price difference. Meanwhile, the first animation colors Predaking is MORE expensive than the 'police' themed one.
I'd try to avoid saying something derogatory and conspiracy theorist on Takara trying to price deco demand, but I think I just did.
I mean, it's no conspiracy. They're straight up charging more for the deco they think will have more demand. Can't speak for the US market but AM Predaking went for $388 while Police Predaking is $282 here.

I'd love to get Soundwave, but not for $200. I'm not going crazy, right? This feels like a huge jump in ML pricing. Arcee's the only one I've bought so far, so I haven't really paid attention, but am I seeing right that only Ultra Magnus has cost more, and him not by very much?
Regardless, I can't come up with any reasonable way for ML Soundwave to cost more than MP Blaster.
