One of my bigger complaints about the recently re-released DotM Shockwave is that it's so DULL, you can barely tell it has any purple at all. I also figured I could do a slightly better job on the Brains and Wheelie minifigures. (The paratrooper isn't worth saving.)

Here's Wheelie and Brains on the 25mm hex bases I made for them (I think the bases came with a Heavy Gear Kickstarter set I got many years ago). Yeah, a messy workspace would be more appropriate for Brains, but there was only so much work I was willing to put into this. :)

Since 90% or more of the Brains painting was just drybrushing shades of metal, I finished him first:

I'm also painting Shockwave's purple parts more noticeably purple, I'll probably do an in-progress pic soon once I finish the center and left side (once it's sufficiently dry and sealed, I can hold onto that side to paint the right side) to show the contrast.

Finally finished Shockwave. I was being patient and putting many thin layers on so it wouldn't be lumpy.

The blade weapon is still trash, and got sticky as soon as I painted it. Several layers of sealant have made it slightly less sticky.

So I gave him Sauron's mace. Well, most of it. The "Make It" kit didn't come with enough resin to do all six blades, and only three turned out halfway decent.
