All I got to say is that if it doesn't give you the option of playing "The Touch" when you open it? What the hell are we even doing.

The picture of the cord coming out of the Matrix really just strikes me as a funny image. Like, it makes me imagine Optimus coming into Autobot HQ and finding Hot Rod using it to charge his phone.
You jest but, back in the ye olden days of rumors about the mysterious Japanese G1 sequel called "The Headmasters", people believed and mocked that show for apparently recharging the Matrix (following its emptying in "The Return of Optimus Prime") by having it plugged into an ordinary recharging system inside an Autobot base on Earth.

HasTak are really good at finding ways to make new versions of Astrotrain that I, a space shuttle nut, do not find appealing.

I'm sorry about the battery 'downing', I'm just always hesitant on any expensive device absolutely dependent on a battery I can't change (and while I have experience in it and an Amateur Extra class Ham Radio license, I SUCK at soldering), though admittedly my phone, computer, and CAR of all things are in that category...

Which does lead to an idea, I have a Prius Prime, with a little Autobot symbol stuck next to the 'Prime' logo. If I get the Matrix and jam it into the glove compartment...?

Edit: Oh...oh, now THIS is interesting. Shockwave can't be a 'gun'...for a HUMAN CHILD...but they found an interesting work around for Bruticus despite not being small enough to be hand-held by him...

If I can get Bruticus, I will get this Shockwave as my DeathCobra analog to make up for the Liokaiser I missed out on.

Well, that would solve some of my trunk space issues, I have to admit. Probably would take a major hit on mileage when using the gas engine though...

That's probably why the average train can't hold six construction vehicles plus an army of similar sized warriors at once. A lack of shuttle-bay.

Though I still look at the old transformation in the movie and wonder if everyone inside got throw against the ceiling when the entire room rolled over.

I hope Shockwave's hose has the reach to plug into the hole in Bruticus's back.

I think this is the closest thing I've been to actually excited/interested in years, I know my collecting is winding down, but a Bruticus with giant Shockwave cannon, an Astrotrain for my nephew, and some smaller 'find at WalMart' things for when I take him to town would be a great wrapup.

But where is my Swindle preorder...?

Looking back at the pics of new Bruticus I see the little notch in the right shoulder that I previously totally overlooked where the new tab on Shockwave's chest locks in, and it is NOT mirrored in the left shoulder of the frame. Looks like this has been in the works from the start.

So is combining with Bruticus something that only the SS Shockwave release can do, or will any version of the mold have this ability?

I was wondering that myself, trying to figure out if the little chest tab was new or not. I don't have any version of the mold, but I slapped this together, it looks like the tower/handle has been remolded with 'slots' but no eye, and there's a new clip under the chest part that Tfwiki says is new. Plus all the 'smoothing'.

Oops, edit, here is Bruticus too, you can see the shoulder tab-slot. I do hope Shockwave can fit with Blast-off attached, I don't want to give Bruticus one wimpy arm to have a shoulder gun.

That’s a weird choice to make a shoulder cannon. You’d think it’d just be a means of fitting Shockwave onto the combiner fist instead of stacking yet another gun on Bruticus.

Shockwave's probably too heavy a mold for Bruticus to properly wield like a handgun.

A similar thing happened with Takara Selects King Poseidon, in that any of his Deluxe-sized limbs are too heavy for the king to properly wield in their Targetmaster gun modes.

And Shockwave's a Voyager, so if a Deluxe is too heavy for a Combiner to wield, a Voyager would undoubtedly be even heavier.

So, they probably took inspiration from HasLab Liokaiser and made Shockwave a shoulder cannon with a more stable and sturdy shoulder mount.

I have both types of mini-Shockwaves, if I can get Bruticus and this I plan to try all of them at once to make a mega-Combaticon combiner.

I can see it now, as they all merge their strengths...

Swindle: "Greed!!
Blastoff: "Arrogance!"
Brawl: "Violence!"
Onslaught: "Overthinking!"
Vortex: *farts*

Shockwave tries to add logic but somehow just throws in a lot of artillery.

Bruticus: "By your powers combined, I am...a gun nut in therapy...?"

Rung: "See? I TOLD everyone I needed a larger toy..."
