I like that they actually remolded Optimus some for this, unlike Megatron who seems mostly just to be deco.

I think the chestplate damage is sculpted in, but I haven't seen enough pics to be sure it isn't just well-chosen lines. I did think there'd be more paint for the damage though. I can't tell clearly in some of the shots but the tears/streaks on the face seem to be there, just in a color too similar to the face itself.

Notably, Megs' shins seem to be much more solidly gray than bluish.

I am very interested in both of these and managed to snag one of each (Megs on Pulse, Op on Target.com). I feel like I make a reasonable effort to stay "in the know" about upcoming releases and when they'll be available to order. But this time, I saw a random post on another Transformers site about when Megs *might* be available, and only that there was an Optimus forthcoming. I honestly had no idea until this morning, that they would be available today.

Gray legs megatron is cool but I was thinking of repainting Megs into MP-05esque colors anyway. I don’t think buying a Leader class figure for shins and a gun is good value.

So of this batch of MTMTE releases, the only one I want is the one that got listed first with absolutely no advance notice, went up several hours earlier than typical Pulse listings, and had sold out before I learned of it. Bleh.

Anyway, still no interest in any of the Transformers: Childhood Trauma Edition line. I would maybe go in on a SS86 cab-only Optimus at a Leader price, but not this version

I don't know if they'll bother with more than deco tweaks for this, which is a shame since that's the area that IMO needs the least work. Maybe tool up a new head since Prime and Megs got that.

But IDK how much will need to go into fixing that vehicle mode, from more room in the trailer to the ability to slide or move the spoiler wing forward. At that point just make a new one, I guess. I'd be interested in a new-mold mainline take that avoids these issues and also makes the torso less squat, having some room before the waist.

Maybe they'll do him in Style Gen too. And it'll be priced even more absurdly, and be the third high-end Takara Hot Rod/Rodimus thing I have to pass on because I need my kidneys.
