They're robots, they don't really age to begin with: their voices are synthasized. I mean, growing doesn't work backwards either but Arcee apparently shrinks ten feet in-between the BB movie and RotB, yet they share the same page.

But whatever, this is apparently a conversation that's already been hashed out so I'll let it go.

I agree about ages, but Arcee is just a result of being a cybertronian motorcycle to going to an earth one, she just reformatted to a smaller body.

That was the point I was trying to reach: they're robots; they can change their forms and voices as easily as the plot requires them to. "Aging" and "Growing" don't really play into it.

Don't the Bayverse Transformers "age" due to insufficient energon, though? I thought Jetfire's decayed nature was explicitly due to being low on energon? (Also the plane dude in RotB, Stratosphere?) Or maybe I'm conflating two different storylines?

Aging also isn't strictly physical, but mental.

G1 Ironhide, for example, was characterized as an old timer not just through his voice but his personality and mannerisms. Yet, because his design doesn't have any inherently aged characteristics, the Japanese dub of the G1 cartoon was able to reinterpret him as a younger character not simply through the sound of his voice but through the vocal characterization of his personality and mannerisms. Instead of being portrayed as a stubborn old codger, he was portrayed as a stubborn young hothead (at least, from what I've been able to watch of the Japanese dub).

I'd just like for Wheeljack to have his cool head design when he has a prominent part in a movie for a change.

Like, whatever else, why change the most unique, distinct, and arguably cool thing about him?!

I'll even take the Trilogy/Movie Advanced "is your head the Matrix or" sculpt just so I don't have to look at "we skinned Einstein and put his hair back on him".

Maybe even the Trilogy color scheme as well (easier to fudge and repurpose as a new guy than the more G1 Movie Advanced colors) so it's not a nondescript blue car.
