Those remains had to have been the Dinobots in one of the scripts that got mixed together into the mess we have now. Most of that story got lost in the shuffle, so we're just left with bits and pieces that don't connect to anything. It's unclear who the Dinobots are, where they came from, why Lockdown's clients would want them, or how Lockdown's clients even know they exist. They never did anything as far as we're shown or even told.

What I would give to tour Paramount's vault and see what they've got. There is some version of this story that made sense. Maybe it never got farther than a treatment. But someone at some point had a theory on where they were going with this, and I would love to read it.
One of the fun things about novelizations and comic adaptations is that they're typically based off a not-quite-final script, so some orphaned references and the like sometimes have some explanation. (On the other hand, sometimes the author adds his own stuff in that wasn't in any of the scripts.)

TLK and AoE would have benefited from that, I think.

Some of the things I like most from the movie-verse are not the movies themselves, but rather, the IDW comics based on them. I think the bay continuity remains popular in part because the movies being bad but having a bunch of interesting and radically-different-from-G1 tidbits left in the background makes them pretty fertile ground for headcanon and fanfiction, in a way that more structured continuities with better stories are not: because in those, someone else usually already did the fiction job in a better way than one could. Or it's already sort of set in stone in one's own mind because of it.

The Studio Series '86 Anniversary Line has been (mostly) revealed along with some other exclusives and even a 2027 Leader, thanks to Jtprime17 over at TFW2005

TRA GEN COLLAB HOT WHEELS TWIN MILL 2
Product Number: G2224

TRA GEN SS ANNY DLX INSECTICON 3 PACK
Product Number: G2251

TRA GEN SS ANNY VOY STARSCREAM

(The Anniversary items are Target exclusives)

TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES LDR TF1 OPTIMUS

Yay, Prowl! Finally!

Curious how the Insecticons might differ.

Also can't wait for the collective gnashing of the teeth at the new Starscream being an exclusive.

Starscream as an exclusive? Since its a TFTM movie anniversary subline, I'm not expecting anything too wacky so maybe something as simple as an opaque cockpit and/or cel-shaded deco. Other possibilities are a timed exclusive of the new mold or the new mold with coronation stuff while Starscream without them will be the retail release

Deluxe Insecticon three-pack is tantalizingly worded. It's the cartoon trio of course but Deluxe class Insecticons is very different from Deluxe Insecticons and the phrasing makes the mind wander. (Also I don't want to buy 3 other toys to get Ransack.) I'd expect the major change to be solid plastic instead of clear parts and removal of the blue and red sticker-esque detailing.

Maximal multipack is probably some rereleases of show characters with maybe some deco changes but I want it to be something wacky like Fox kids colors or something.

Guess we know why they reissued Siege Prowl lol

Twin Mill 2 has a lot of color options. I'd personally want the lime green one since I had that as a kid but who knows.

Leader TF1 Optimus? Definitely a new mold since he didn't have any extra gear or trailer in the first movie and I can see why the TF team would want another crack at the design.

It's listed as SS (Studio Series) so it's almost certainly the regular insecticons who showed up in the film.
It'd be hilarious if it was three of the Deluxe Insecticons in black and purple. (I'm sure it won't be.)

I could go for color-reversed 'normal' Insections, though. (I.e. switch up the black and purple and whatever else to make them look different but still consistent.)

Something Wackier: Alt color schemes from the "Beast Wars: Transmetals" PS1/N64 games! Player 2 colors from the PS1 game, and any of the needlessly multiple colors every character had.

I'm surprised we're not getting like a voy Bombshell who is that size so they can make him cartoon accurate with a being purple in Bug mode and Gray in Robot mode.

You know, I vaguely recall someone actually asking Evan about that in a stream, as a suggestion for Gamer Edition, and he did not dismiss the possibility.

Kind of surprised that movie-anniversary Starscream isn't a Leader with the coronation stuff included. It's the anniversary line for the media where that design debuted. Or does the new mold need newly- or retooled coronation stuff?

Insecticon 3-pack... if it's just show-model colors, only Bombshell will really look that different, no? Maybe alternate parts for a "wrong, they're our way in" ramp-head Kickback? Ooh, I may be into it if they're in partial grid reformatting deco.

I'll join the collective gnashing of teeth over PROWL being an exclusive (and Starscream to a lesser extent). I've come to begrudgingly accept exclusives as just part of collecting life, but that's very begrudging.

I think Voyager Hot Rod is supposed to be in this capsule; again, about time for a rerelease but the exclusivity paywall is still meh.

New, Leader class TF1 Optimus is interesting. If it's a new mold of just him and no trailer, it'd be neat to see how they build on the already-very nice design.

I'm super into early scripts, and I'll often resort to buying novelizations if the script itself isn't available anywhere. They are a treasure trove sometimes.
I love reading novelizations when I can.

I think the first one I read was Back to the Future Part II, which I still own. It just enriched the whole thing so much for me. I don't know how many times I've read it.

I later checked out Back to the Future Part III from the school library, but I don't think I ever got to read the novelization of the first film. I really need to get those two to complete the set someday.

I also remember getting a junior novelization of the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and being confused by some parts -- particularly the very end, where they had a scene that it turned out had been cut from the film, but was still in this version (as well as the comic adaptation).

I would've really liked to see novelizations for AoE and TLK. I really appreciated getting to see how DotM was originally intended to end. I preferred that original ending over what we ended up getting. I think I would've liked to get a fuller picture of what was intended for the last two.

TLK in particular really bothered me. There was a lot of stuff that came out ahead of the movie about the approach they were taking to writing it that actually sounded promising. And there are nuggets within the film that show hints of what might have been a coherent movie. But I left the theater feeling like there were huge chunks of it that were just missing, either cut before filming or in the editing room. I had much the same feeling with Batman v Superman. That movie eventually got a fuller version released that filled a lot of those holes. I wish the same would have happened for TLK.

Regarding the listings, I'm not seeing much that interests me. If this is how they're releasing the new-mold Starscream, I'll probably get him. Hopefully he's compatible with the coronation gear from the previous SS86 Starscream, assuming he won't have it as a Voyager. I have Prowl and am not interested in whatever they do to make the Insecticons look even more like the cartoon than they already do.

As for 2007 Optimus, if he's not compatible with Jetfire and his DotM flight gear, he'll automatically be a downgrade in my eyes. I'm quite happy with the current version, especially after I swapped some parts between the "2007" and DotM versions to have one Optimus with the clear windows, paint gradient on the hood, and the pinned backpack. I still haven't bought SS86 Optimus. Likewise, this new SS Optimus would have to be something really special to get me to bite.

He may be compatible with Jetfire and the DOTM trailer.

That is, a new Commander class Jetfire and a new trailer they'll pack in with the DOTM-abs retool of this mold to also bump it up to Commander.

Remember, it seems the Coronation set didn't sell very well. A lot of places had it on clearance there for a bit. I'm thinking it is to keep him at the voyager price point for an exclusive. What I'm wondering is if he'll be the new Seeker mold? I'm thinking they might try to release all 3 of the main seekers in the new mold.

I'd be very surprised if they didn't try.

It still seems weird for this of all releases not to have that angle. It being the all-new mold would be another selling point that might offset that.

Anyway, maybe they'll do an exclusive accessory pack with the crown and cape, as well as post-coronation stuff like a packet of ash and two lower legs.
