Toys Straight Outta Comics: First Images of Age of the Primes Liege Maximo and Nexus Prime

The Day of Reckoning has arrived! TFW's Nune has posted the first images of Age of the Primes Leader Class Liege Maximo and Voyager Nexus Prime. Both photos only show the robot modes. Liege Maximo is a page right out of the orginal G2 comics, while Nexus Prime resembles a middle-ground between his original Energon-redeco version and the version shown in Transformers: One. See the images below:

UPDATE: Alt modes images added

Looks like Nexus Prime's wings are weapons that need to be detached during transformation. People talk about wanting weapon storage, but I hate when that's how it works.

Definitely thinking that Nexus is a "universal donor" combiner torso. The limbs will obviously still need the skeletons from their respective Commander Class leaders, but they'll all plug into his torso mode? Wonder if it would end up being compatible at all with Combiner Wars.

That does seem to be the prevailing theory. Also that Nexus might (apparently) by a Silverbolt retool. But yeah, making him a torso to combine with everyone kinda makes sense. Though Hasbro doing actual Nexus limb bots would be nice eventually.

Liege looks amazing. Eldritch in all the right ways. And about as G2 as it gets. He’ll work nicely as Jhiaxus’s boss.

Also, theory bouncing around for him is that he might be the basis for the Unicron Soldier figure.

So to display Nexus, you can't display one of your other combiners. Unless you buy a duplicate torso to get an extra frame. For Commander prices.

During Combiner Wars this would have worked. It doesn't work as well now.

Agreed. It’s an odd choice by Hasbro, especially since his component bots are so well know from the funpub set. Plus some alternatives from (I think) the old Prime universe War for Cybertron books.

These have to be the worst alt modes out of the whole line, a potato and a shoebox. Nexus jet mode is worse than Apeface, maybe as bad as Broadside.
