I too, enjoyed the black and white ep. Get to the end! Hehe
I will try. It just feels off like it was crunched down from a two parter into one episode. Also, the concept is a bit insane and people are making bad decisions to make the plot move along. I am wondering if Una will just wake up and it was all a dream. "And you were there...."

If I got that right, then I am going to go across the state lines and buy some lottery tickets.

I actually only caught Skorr in the back on my watch through, not M'ress or the other guy. Went to find pictures after since I wasn't sure exactly when it was:

Funny thing is in the comics set in the movie era, Scotty and M'ress were an item.

And that fin-headed reptilian appears to be a Gnalish, like Sord, seen in The Animated Series (species only named in the novelverse).

So looks like they did use practical effects for them, like they did for a certain werewolf in the La'an episode!

So I got through the Casa-BlackandWhite-a episode and I can honestly say that it's my least favorite episode of SNW. Just a bad episode to me.

Then we got the Puppet episode, and that was at least entertaining. I really liked how they were talking about the long range beaming that Scotty would be famous for, and talked about in the Kelvinverse films. I wasn't a fan of the ending though, as I felt that robbed us of some neat character growth, especially with Tpring.

Then I watched the Warp vacuum slip stream episode. I thought that was a great episode, and I really liked it. Poor Chapel went through the ringer on that one. I also love how Pike is like, "You have the Con" before getting himself zapped. The whole Spock death fake out was wasted though as we all know Spock's fate.

So last night I watched the best Star Trek episode of the year.

Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass

Man, this was great! The return of Trelane, this time with his medals so I am guessing that this is definitely after he messed with Kirk in Trelane's timeline. They almost let him say his name to Pike too! Pity that they didn't. Loved the whole premise that he was presenting a dissertation on humanity to the Q. Like seeing the Q proctor in the robes too. I loved the way that they went to commercial whenever there was a problem. Twin Sybok was great especially with the whole pain sharing callback, and the wife thought he was a hilarious attempt at the whole bad guy romance interest. I loved that we get some amazing moments between Pike and Juliet, along with some amazing bits of character development from his experiences at the end of the last season. It's great that they are acknowledging it and how much of an effect that it had on Pike. Love the new counselor and her Dr Crusher coat. :)

Also, make sure that you stay for the after credits scene, it's hilarious!

Also, what ship did she go get Sybok with?

It's obviously some sort of cargo ship, but I don't think that I have seen it on screen before. It has a large forward hangar bay, no visible nacelles, asymetrical design, and a large cargo area on the back. It honestly looks more like a Star Wars ship and a Star Trek ship.

Oh, me saying I'm weeping for your future is cuz the puppet episode would have the 'wake up and it's all just a dream' thing.

I totally would have wanted it Canon, darn it

On the ship thing, well, the La'an Sybok was probably meant to be a popular ship but I don't think there's enough fanfiction to deem it so, haha.

So I watched the next episode where Kirk gets to be second in command of the Enterprise while most of the bridge crew are on an away mission.

I really liked it. You have both Kirk brothers really doing a great job in this episode. The mystery that they uncover with their dad's old captain was great. Speaking of the admiral, I loved the whole new take on the evil admiral bit, but I am a little disappointed that they say he was drugged afterwards. The whole pursuit of this cloaked raider was weird and out of nowhere. I wonder if that will be the end of season villain? Speaking of end of season, Mbenga takes the blame and they say he will be tossed out of Starfleet, but the next episode he is still here and no one is talking about it. As much as I like the actor and character, I would love to see Bones show up, and see how he earns that nick name.

The B plot with Pike and the away team was neat. And I am glad that the Vulcan girl is gone, as they really played her up to be sort of snobby and kind of a speciesest. I do wonder why Uhura only got a battlefield promotion to Lt Jr grade though instead of a permanent one.

I didn't like that Vulcan character either but I wonder if that will go anywhere.

The raider is suppose to be what happens in TOS Balance of Terror, right?

I don't think that they are connected. The Romulan ship seemed like something that they have just came up with and were testing on the Federation in BoT. That won't happen for a few more years. They didn't give much info on what this raider was other than it was stealthy and had killed millions so far.

It seems to me it was intended to be a first run on the Romulan Warbird from TOS with its cloak, especially since they do the "we have to say the title" thing with the admiral talking about it bringing terror later. After this run they just refit it with the plasma torp and send it back out for the TOS episode

I could be wrong. Maybe it will show up again and turn out to be the Romulans testing out their new cloak.

The prequel show, Enterprise, establishes that the Romulans were experimenting with cloaking tech LONG before SNW. This episode was VERY MUCH intending to reference Balance of Terror. There's even a blink-and-you-miss-it computer screen establishing that the Enterprise is in the exact same area of space.

Yup. I remember that episode with the cloaked mines and the cloak ship they encounter. Pretty decent episode and makes me sad that we never got the Earth Romulan war season of Enterprise.

Maybe so, but I am just stuck on the huge time gap for it. I looked it up, and there is a four-year gap between this episode and the TOS Balance of Terror episode. So if this is meant to be referring to that ship, then they certainly took their time hitting the Federation's defenses that they can just slip by at will. Also, it's pretty crazy that they would be just out there hitting federation targets for that long too. So, if it's that ship, then they must have returned to Romulus during that period.

Here's the thing... it COULD be "that ship," but it could just as easily be some earlier iteration of cloaking technology in another ship. We're not given that detail, but there's so much MORE of a time gap between Enterprise and SNW, I'm not bothered by the four-year gap between this and TOS (and I don't think it's even quite that long anymore). We're not even told whether or not the attacks continue unabated between this episode and that one.

Eh, give me that old Transformers fanfic crossover where Swindle ends up on DS9 and runs into Quark...
