Let's just say M'Benga wasn't the only doctor on board the Enterprise.
Oh it's the Tardis. What ep and what part is that from?
That wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey Easter Egg is at approximately 11 minutes, 30 seconds (if you're watching ad-free) into the newest episode, when all the cables are connecting to the Enterprise in the first shot we see of her inside the scavenger ship. My wife saw it on TikTok and shared it with me, so I fired up the episode and started scrubbing till I found it. If you don't know where it's at and what you're looking for, the TARDIS is very hard to see. I had to zoom in with my camera to see that it was really there. (to the left of the port nacelle as the camera is moving in towards the saucer section.)
So at the end of the episode I have some gripes and quizzical thoughts. First, the tail of the episode where we learn and talk about the scavengers being descendants of a human mission: it has a superficial feel of Star Trek dealing with a big idea, but it doesn't have the bones of it. That was unneeded and nonvaluable. It was intriguing several times in the episode and once quite explicitly Pelia identifying herself with humans. And...I'm just not getting used to Scotty. I forgive this show for a lot because it does some really great things. It also does some dumb things. I don't know how who this man is. Scotty is older than Kirk, taller than Kirk, and speaks with a light (actually fake) Scottish accent. His demeanor is entirely separate from this little, young man who speaks with a genuine and sometimes very difficult to understand accent. This guy is quippy and sarcastic and rolls his eyes at people. It's just not him at all. I forgave them for giving Christine a personality because it is a pretty good one, but that was just putting one into an empty vessel. They've taken Scotty OUT and replaced him.

I didn't bond with TOS so I'm fine with changes in the new classic characters cuz I don't notice them.
Except the hair. What's up with the hair in the ep? Uhura and Una had different hair, whaaa
So I watched the second episode of this new season of SNW.

So we pick up 3 months after the last episode, Spock is waiting for Chapel to return, and bam, she shows up with Korby! Not a huge shocker since we know from TOS that they get married. Speaking of marriages, while Spock is trying to console himself with a drink, an unusual bartender makes him a drink that will change things. And suddenly Spock is waking up and the episode is starting over, but different. Spock and Chapel are getting married, and the Bartender is now the wedding planner.
Freaking loved this episode! Korby is the only one that realizes something is wrong, but eventually he manages to get Spock angry enough to hit him, which breaks the illusion for Spock. Spock had a great line when they are trying to figure out why Korby was unaffected and Korby suggests it was due to Korby's intellect. I also loved it when Spock is deliberately trying to get Sam mad.
And while I liked the ending and the resolution to this episode, I must say that I loved that we get a bridge between the TOS Q and the TNG Q with this character. WE get to see him snap to use his powers, and his dad shows up voiced by John DeLancie himself! They mention that Korby was digging on their old homeworld and that this Q is only 8020 years old. It makes me wonder if this is Q and his son between his baby appearance and his teenage appearance on Voyager. I say it could be another Q, but given that Q's son is the first new Q in forever, it's most likely him, though it could be another Q further down the timeline was made.
Huge shout out to Uhura and Ortega's brother. Lots of Chemistry there and loved how it made Ortega feel, though it would appear that she has some serious PTSD going on. Also digging the new nurse.

I was actually rolling my eyes at the start of the ep, with all the love drama. But then I loved it when Rhys Darby appeared, hehe
He was perfect in this role too!
Saw SNW 3x7 What is Starfleet.
It would be a GREAT episode for folks who haven't seen this type of storytelling, gimmick and plot. For others, probably just good, since old hat ish.
But it would be an optimum ep to show newcomers tho. Showed some good aliens, a story with heart, some ship action, lays out the crew. They missed engineering tho. And lacked humor.

Just how varied is the gameplay going to be, and how much can you go off the rails from the series, I should wonder. Shame the only possible hint of actual game in this teaser is maybe the way they zoomed in from the exterior to the MSD - XCOM-style Ant Farm facility management maybe?
To be fair keeping a consistent scale has NEVER been one of Star Trek's strong points. The B'Rel alone has been shown to be anywhere from smaller than a Miranda class to just a bit smaller than the Enterprise D not to mention the turbolift issue in Star Trek 5. It does seem to have gotten worse since 2009, though.
I'd say it's exactly the same. You can LOOK at the shooting model of the Enterprise-A and see that there aren't over 70 decks on the thing. They used the constitution refit in 4 previous movies. Granted it's nowhere near as bad as the turbolift scene from Discovery. You'd think they were inside the Tardis or something with that scene. Of course the newer Trek shows are being handled by one of the guys behind the Kelvin timeline films and, well, JJ Abrams doesn't understand scale at all and apparently neither does his collaborator, Kurtzman.
Well, you can see the windows on the saucer section and neck and get an idea of how many decks the thing has. The rim of the saucer is two decks high. There's no way to interpret that as having 70+ decks given the height of the saucer rim. Your right, they seem to have forgotten that deck numbers go UP as you head towards the keel of the ship on UFP starships, which borrowed the scheme from the US Navy.
I finally watched season 4 episode 3 and 4.
For Star Trek's first Zombie episode, I thought it was pretty scary, but then again Zombies are something that naturally spooks me.
So did the Moss kill off or infect all the animals on the planet? MBinga couldn't detect anything inside or out of the station. Also, I totally disagree with Una here, if she had listened to Ortega's plan sooner, then Pike wouldn't have been stabbed and the Klingons could have made it out of there without all dying from the zombies.
The killer was a great touch! I really liked the holodeck test here. It gives a reason for why the holodeck goes wrong, and its neat to see them call for the arch and to see that classic black and yellow lined room.
Also, what is going on between her and Spock! Was that her in the holodeck at the end or did they actually make out after doing the Tango?
