So... a few weeks ago, the cylinder on my desk chair started dying. A couple of days ago I ordered the replacement, it arrived yesterday evening, and I went to replace it this morning. It's a standard mechanism, and I've done it before. An easy job, if physically demanding.

Between the crushing forces of gravity and my fat ass: the cylinder has become spot welded into place. I managed to destroy the frame trying to get the cylinder out and never managed that second bit.

So now I need a new chair. Expensive, but... necessary. Hop on the ikea website, find the chair we bought for dad last christmas. It's a good chair, I like it. Get it in the cart... three days for click and collect. Oh, and the closest click and collect point is now further than just going to the ******* ikea. So now I have to go to ikea on a saturday (cause today is already spoken for.) to get a desk chair...

At least I managed to get the rollerblade wheels off the old one. And I've still got the new 1k cylinder.

DAY TWO!

Out the door late (wanted to be there for opening, to avoid the crowds and get it over with.), and stuck behind every fuckwit with a stick shift both there and back... but I got my chair. Slap it together in about 10 minutes, clean up, get everything put where it's supposed to be and then make lunch.

My first sit is with a plate full of food... and it's glorious. Soft, comfortable... and between the roller blade wheels, and the 1K piston it defaults to the exact right height. I can't break the piston: it's not extended and it's the perfect height.

It was a giant pain in the ass, and fairly expensive: but this is literally perfect right now. I guess it all worked out in the end.
