From the Front Page, full video reveal of Robosen Soundwave.

These things are way out of my spending-zone, but I have to admit that this thing looks great. The stationary alt-mode actually lends itself better to being a display piece than the previous releases that don't really hold their shape when not powered on.

Looks to be built to be able to house the masterpiece cassettes? And also Mindwipe for some reason:

Either that, or possibly someone at Robosen thinks that all bat Transformers are the same guy.

And also Mindwipe for some reason:
Not merely Mindwipe, but specifically the Fans Toys version.

Robosen, being a Chinese company, likely mistook Mindwipe for Ratbat due to their Chinese names sharing the same first two Chinese characters:
  • Ratbat is 蝙蝠精
  • Mindwipe is 蝙蝠魔
As for why they used a third-party figure as a reference, it ain't the first time that's happened.

So for the first time, if you can't find your Bluetooth speaker, it's probably because it walked off. By itself.

Though their 'realistic motions' for walking does make it look like Soundwave has to visit the...Energon Depository, let's just say...though that may just be a BotBots homage, and it's his Must Turd mode.

This looks so cool! I am also in the "too rich for my blood, but glad it exists" camp. I'm just not sure where I would keep it and how often I would actually use it, after the initial glow wears off. Plus, it's a huge fail, because it doesn't come with an actual, transforming and flying Buzzsaw!!!!!

I will be honest. I was expecting him to launch cassettes that spring into their alt modes. Even if you have to put them back, it would be a neat trick. Put some tags on them so Soundwave knows which one is inside him and he can announce it as it launches.

If it was in the video, I must have missed it, but it seems like they could have built in a command where he could press his own eject button with his finger in robot mode. Even if there are no transforming cassettes that come with him, it would have been a seemingly simple thing that would fit the character appropriately.

If he does do this, then I will retract eject my statement...with my own finger!

He looks fantastic. Just like Megatron, if I could afford it, I would be all over this. Sadly, there's just no way I could swing it right now. And even if I could afford the listed price... tariffs.

Still though, the end of the trailer, with the five Robosen bots having a battle? Pure joy!

Pure joy that can double as a mortgage or car payment. A couple of them, actually. The lineup would have been a nice few months rent in my old apartment.

Edit: Terrible idea of the moment-

Soundwave: "Budget considerations, REJECT!"
*presses his own shoulder button. His chest opens and confetti made from shredded hundred dollar bills blows out to settle on the ground*

So the most expensive Soundwave ever, and they can't integrate the arms into the alt mode and just stuffs them in the back like it's the Siege/Earthrise/SS86 toy.

Something the ORIGINAL, 40 YEAR OLD TOY was able to do.

I was disappointed by the batteries/guns on that front.

None of the MP toys (or the 3rd party MP toys) have been able to do this either, which I must admit I find somewhat baffling.

Meanwhile, Music Label Soundwave is sitting in the corner just chilling with his full integrated arms at the Deluxe class size.

So I saw on Facebook a video with all of the Robosen Transformers, and Soundwave is the smallest of them all, even smaller than Bumblebee.

BUT, the reduction in height/mass while still packing in a thousand bucks worth of animatronic technology means it can walk fluidly without having to look like Soundwave is going to poop himself!

Right!

...Right?

...Right...?

"Soundwave, EJECT!"
Eject: "Leave me out of this..."

That's a bold-faced lie! He doesn't walk like he's going to poop himself!

He walks like he's already BEGUN pooping himself and is trying to minimize the damage while reaching a restroom.

I kid. Honestly, if I had much more disposable income, I would probably buy him. He seems the best Robosen if you were only going to have one of them, since he can just sit around in tape-deck / bluethooth speaker mode when not in use. Honestly, I don't really need him to be able to actually walk fluidly. I mean, I don't really want him to wander off out of the area that I'm using him in.

i still have no idea who the market for all these robosen things are

people with more money than sense, i assume.

To be fair, that's true of pretty much any adult / collector focused Transformers merchandise, it's just a matter of scale. These things are way out of my justifiable price range, but for anyone that that's not true for, I can see the appeal. Like Marge says, I just think they're neat.

I'd have a biting rebuttal to that, but I re-watched the video and...uh...good point...dang...

Still an amazing bit of work, and if I could afford it I would, if only to have the novelty of a Bluetooth speaker that can follow you from room to room by itself.
